Hi guys,

Trying to decided between the two of these. I am slightly leaning more towards the M4 mainly because I have heard of it more!

Also, do I need a Sata3 cable or will the Sata2 cable do?

Anybody got any thoughts?

I'd say whichever is cheaper, the 830 edges out the M4 in performance figures but for most purposes this won't matter much as they're both crazy fast. If the same price, spring for the 830 I suppose.

Both are great but I don't think the 830 is really worth paying more for. You wouldn't notice a difference between them and they're both obviously much faster than HDD's, and very reliable as well.

Intel 330 has been selling for about $20 less than the M4, that's a good option too even though it's Sandforce.

They don't come with a cable. SATA cables are generally supplied only with motherboards, any additional cables need to be bought separately.

I think Samsung 830 comes in different retail packages or SKUs. The ones that include an adapter bracket say "desktop upgrade kit". E.g. this

I have the Samsung 830 and the bracket is nothing special IMO. I don't use Ghost that was also included. It was great price at the time for the kit though. If you go with the Samsung 830, make sure you download their SSD Magician and check to make sure it's running the latest firmware. Most likely it is. (Can check it in SSD Magician).

Crucial. Only because Micron is a local company and needs your support! I'd guess as long as performance isn't a super high priority they are both pretty reliable quality wise and Crucial can be found a bit on the cheaper side.
