Sam's Club vs. Costco

I'm a member of both, and both have their advantages. Costco's photo center is 100x better though when compared to Sam's.

I had a membership to both... and if i didn't know anything about either company, they would be almost identical. But i choose Costco because they're just a better company (towards the employees and customers).

They are both cults and a waste of money.

Paying a membership fee for the right to spend money is as silly as paying an annual fee on a credit card.

We only have Sams around here. I do wish we have Costco nearby so I can compare first hand. I heard all good things about Costco all the time. I read from <BusinessWeek I think> that Costco not just beat but whip Sams in employee turn over/profit/sale per sq feet/etc.

One thing I noticed that Sams doesn't have good price on gasoline. The local gas stations such as Valero/Murphy have the same or lower price for gas. Sams does have decent prices on tires. I pay about $55 per tire <Bridgestone> for my SUV <with lifetime balance/rotation>.

You can return almost everything at Sams within 90 days with receipt but I did return some items without receipts and got giftcards. No return on beer/wine <state law>.

BTW, do BJ and PriceClub still around? I haven't hear anything from them on the news lately.

I have a Costco membership. I like it except for the long lines on weekends. The employees are so nice and seem like they enjoy working there. I think Costco bought out PriceClub.

So what's the verdict on BJ's? BJ's is considerably closer to me than the nearest Costco, is it worth going to the Costco over BJ's?

And one more BJ's for good measure.

costco. where else you can you buy glasses, a hot tub, a car, home insurance, peanut butter, gas, trees, tents, prescription drugs, garage doors, pizza, tv's, jewelry, iPods, levi's, Jim Beam, and move tickets under one roof?

I've been to both, and the floor layout was pratically identical. Mostly the same products too. Their food selection was terrible. I much rather to go Kroger/Walmart.

Costco has awesome benefits after 6 months even if you're part time.
