Sam's Club or Costco

So I went in a Sam's club for the first time yesterday and was amazed by the prices of certain things. But I dont know if i should go with them or Costco.

I mainly care bout food, healthcare products, etc. The electronics and other stuff really isnt an issue for me.

Is one better than the other?

They have the same stuff at the same prices, but Sam's return policy>Costco's

Costco no longer has the no questions asked lifetime return policy, but Sam's does. Though you can only return computers 6 months out, and TVs 2 years out.

so basically Costco is great for people that aren't douchebags.

I've been to both here in Kansas City. Sam's has better prices on pretty much everything and the membership is cheaper. Costco is nice and empty, so shopping is very easy.

So, it you are willing to pay a premium to shop in a less than moderately busy store, go Costco. If you want to save money and are willing to shop is a pretty busy store, go with Sam's Club.

That's my impression anyway.

I don't think I've ever seen Sam's Club win a Costco vs Sam's poll.

FWIW, their return policies are pretty similar as far as I know. I go to Costco because it's close. I don't think I've ever been in a Sam's Club. From experience I know I can generally trust any product I buy at Costco to be good quality. They don't sell the cheapest product in a category, they sell the better products. I don't know if you can expect the same from Sam's Club if they sell the same stuff as Walmart, don't count on it.

One of my friends moved to a new area where Sam's Club was closer, and he gave Sam's a shot. He decided after one trip that it was worth driving farther to go to Costco.
