I'm attempting to find a new TV for $750 or less, that's my can't go over number at this point. I've been trying to do some research and have been hearing good things about the Panasonic plasma's, unfortunately I cant afford the G10 series right now, and we're in need of something soon. I wouldn't mind getting 1080p but currently I don't have anything that provides better than a 1080i signal. In the research I have done in order for me to get a 1080p display it bumps me down to a 32 or 37 inch display. This isn't the end of the world but the room it's going to reside in is our family room which is fairly large and the furthest viewing distance is 9-10 feet away so I'm attempting to get the largest display that we can afford. Has anyone compared the two in the title, I've been able to find them both under 750? I know Vizio has a 42 that's 1080p but I think the price today at Costco was 799. Any suggestions or ideas?

At 10 feet from a 42", 1080p won't matter. The difference in size between a 32-37" and 42" most certainly will. I would say that plasma has a leg up on LCD at this price range. If you keep your eye out for a good deal, you might be able to find a 50" plasma for around $800. I sit 9 feet from my 50" 720p plasma, and it looks incredible.

I actually found a Panasonic TH-C42FD18 at Costco for $700 on close out, 42" plasma with 1080p, figured it was a steal compared to paying $750 for the X1 at 720p
