I uninstalled Windows XP Pro last week in favor of Windows 2000 Pro. I was having some wierd sh1t go on with my system. Upon coming out of standby, the system would greet me with messages like:
"Removal of Hardware device" or something like that
Some of the devices removed were my USB controller, Primary & Secondary IDE channels, COM2, etc.
NogginBoink suggested that it may be because my motherboard is not fully ACPI compliant.
Under Windows 2000, I am now having the same problems. They don't prevent me from doing my work on this beast, but is slightly a pain in the a$$. I can close out the dialog boxes, and everything is back to normal.
I contacted the Motherboard manufacturer, and got their assurance that my motherboard is indeed ACPI 1.0 compliant. I asked why I would possibly have the problems I am experienceing...and I recieved a wonderful tech support response of "I don't know.".
Anyone got an idea?
...If only I was smart enough to run Linux/BSD
I appreciate your patience with me. Any help is appreciated.
