samba domain controller

For kicks I decided to make my linux box a domain controller. But one thing I can't seem to find info on is how do I set a domain administrator? And will a domain administrator be able to do the same type of administrative tasks through windows, as if it was on a windows DC?

Also, what account do I log in as when adding a computer to the domain? I got to the point where I enter the username and password, but I don't know where it looks for that info, I assume I just put the username and password of a domain admin which reflects back to my first question.

Ok I just found out it's the root password. I have to also add a smbpasswd entry, I did that, but it's still giving me an error that it's the wrong username/password. So what else do I need to do?
