Rumor has it that a SAM was fired at a plane from New York. Anyone in the New York area know anything about this? Local media reports or anything?

You mean - Trying to chase down the rumor to find fact - right? Because I in no way claimed it was true, and specifically stated it was a rumor(so far) and that I am trying to get info on it(confirmation or whatever).
 
Well it seems that there was something that went on. No real details yet. All I can find is a report by Michelle Malkin that is as follows:

I just got off the phone with Phil Gee, associate manager of media relations at America West, who promptly returned my late evening call. Here's what he told me:

On Sept. 15 (Thursday), America West Flight 17 took off from JFK Airport at 6:05pm EDT. The captain "took the initiative," says Gee, and reported an "irregularity" to air traffic control as the plane was ascending. The plane continued to Phoenix and landed safely at 8:55pm MST. FBI and other authorities met and interviewed all of the crew and passengers on the plane. The investigation is continuing.

Gee would not say whether the pilot or other crew or passengers reported witnessing a missile firing.

"Nothing is confirmed," Gee said.

it would hurt business......oh, and much less importantly (to the airlines and related businesses), announcing it (if true) might actually save some lives. ie- the movie "jaws" syndrome. or love canal, or something like trying to force drug manufacturers to recall a drug that "only" killed a small percentage of its users.

my feeling that this sam launching rumor is plausable is based on personally experiencing/reading or hearing about many instances where priorities other than the safety of the public comes first.

And this "rumor" comes directly from your rectum does it not? What geocities-esque website heavy on fear, propanda, and generally as ignorant as a 3 dollar whore discussing the Coriolis effect hotlinked this and got your fool self caught up in it?

SAM is surface to air. Its not fired from planes. That would be air to air. Very different. I call shens.

:roll: Get a grip. You can project whatever you wish on me but it couldn't be further from the truth. I'm looking for what happened - not stating what did.

An anonymous government source reported by Michelle Malkin is now saying it was just birds according to reporting by Michelle Malkin (still the only place I've seen this talked about).
I'm not sure how birds became a SAM but it'll be interesting to see what the truth of the situation is as interviewing passengers and pilots isn't done unless there is a reason for it(if Gee is correct)
