Two years ago. Best beer I've ever had probably. I hope it comes out that good again some day. This year's isn't GREAT, but it's not awful either, about average for Sam's Octoberfest

I like SA because I can find it in almost all of the stores here and it's cheap, but for taste I love Hacker Pschorr. There's a couple of places here I can get that on tap and it's amazing :)

Sam Adams hasn't had a good batch of Oktoberfest in three years. The last two years have been mediocre. I'll still give it a try this year, though. It's been out for a while now, but I haven't snagged any yet.

This is my favorite time of the year for beer drinking. Lots of good autumn beers. Pumpkin ales are all over the place.

I've loved Autumn every since I was a little kid, and all of the Oktoberfest beers are just another reason to enjoy the season.

For all you Oktoberfest fans, if you can get it in your area, I would highly suggest you try Thomas Hooker's brew (http://www.hookerbeer.com/).

My top 3 favorite Oktoberfests:
Spaten
Thomas Hooker
Sam Adams

Are you sure it wasn't two years ago that was really good? i seem to remember that one as being the best I've had...last year's being ok, and this year's being ok. This year's is a little too....glass-shardy to me. You know that feeling when you drink shitty vodka? I get a slight hint of that with this year's batch. Still not enough to ruin it for me though

Probably my favorite season for seasonals.. SA Octoberfest is nice because it's easy to get and probably my favorite SA. Weyerbacher Pumpkin, Victory Moonglow, Southern Tier Pumking... so many good seasonals for October!

+1 on the Paulaner. The local Army base has an Oktoberfest every year and they have the Paulaner pretty cheap. That is some great beer. (Just so happens to be this weekend :) )

I haven't had any Sam Adams in some time. I have always kind of felt they were the "Bose of Beer". Maybe I will give Oktoberfest a try. I guess it like a Marzen is that correct?

I had some at a bar recently, but I wasn't impressed.

I do enjoy regular Sam Adams; a quality beer for one so widely marketed. For Octoberfests, I picked up some Bell's (a Michigan brewer) at the liquor store and that was much better.

Bell's is killer. I had a Dogfish Punkin' Ale the other day and it was quite nice.

What style is this? lager, ale? german octoberfest style, bavarian, pils? looking at the label I can't tell. I had a 6er in my hand last Sunday, but opted for the old standby, Stone Pale Ale.... convince me!

Märzen / Oktoberfest

Description:
Before refrigeration, it was nearly impossible to brew beer in the summer due to the hot weather and bacterial infections. Brewing ended with the coming of spring, and began again in the fall. Most were brewed in March (Märzen). These brews were kept in cold storage over the spring and summer months, or brewed at a higher gravity, so they?d keep. Märzenbier is full-bodied, rich, toasty, typically dark copper in color with a medium to high alcohol content.

The common Munich Oktoberfest beer served at Wies'n (the location at which Munich celebrates its Oktoberfest) contains roughly 5.0-6.0% alcohol by volume, is dark/copper in color, has a mild hop profile and is typically labeled as a Bavarian Märzenbier in style.

Southern Tier harvest and Great Lakes oktoberfest top my autumn lists.

Well even though my past Sam Adams experiences haven't been great I decided to give Octoberfest a try. I have to say I am a bit surprised how much I like it. Not bad at all.

Ignorance.

With that being said, I had the SA Oktoberfest last night on draft. It's okay. About as good as last years I guess but considering its the only one I can find on draft locally (thus far) I guess that's what I'll be having for the next month.
