Hi everybody!
I went over to help an elderly neighbor with her computer trouble. she was wondering why the computer her family had mailed to her was not working. Now this was an old ('80s?) mac, which I didnt know anything about. But I WAS able to tell that it is NOT good when the computer has pieces that have broken off because it was simply thrown in a box with no packing materials! lol. She says she had it insured for $1000 and was wondering if she could get it fixed, lol.
back on topic.
She also had ANOTHER one that didnt work. Turns out the battery is dead. This is also pretty ancient. she said I could have it, and the monitor! Well, I didnt think it would really be worth getting a new battery, so what should I save from this thing? floppy, power supply? The case looks freaky. It has tons of ports in back that are like 6 inches wide. it also has one of those old school floppies. 5.25 inches or something? This thing's fan is LOUD too. Let me know what you think. And I suppose the monitor's good? I dont know much about hardware. it says at&t, ac120v, 60 hz, 1.5a 90w, crt329d.
Thanks all!
{PS: Anyone know how to make a computer stop smelling like cat? :D }

Tell the insurance that it is not economical to repair and use the 1k for a good system.

naturally. but what I was wondering was if the post office would actually give $1000? I mean, you could put an egg in a box loose and say it was worth $50,000.
