TILAPIA

I bought an 8 pack of filets for $5 at a local grocery store, this stuff is HECKA CHEAP compared to salmon. Very neautral flavor which is perfect for marinades and sauces.

Side note, I recently had a whole fried tilapia in a sweet thai suace at a local thai joint, it was OUT OF THIS WOLRD (well the sauce was). DOes anyone know the recipe for the sauce? I can't seem to find it on google other than running into menus from other thai places.

I've always had good luck asking the workers at the restaurant how to make the sauces.

Never.

Have you had a good, not farm raised salmon filet or steak before? Farm raised salmon isn't the same as salmon caught from the river. My uncle used to ship home like 25 pounds of salmon on ice when he worked in Alaska and there's nothing like a fresh salmon steak off the grill with some garlic butter melted on it. Mmmmmmmm....salmon.

Smoked salmon kicks major ass as well.

In my experince, tilapia is too tender to fry.

What kind of stupidity is that? "Neutral flavor" == no flavor, and if you think for a moment you'll realize that people that like salmon like it because of its flavor.

A good salmon steak doesn't need to be adulterated with marinades and sauces.
