Saleen and Ford?

Modeps

Lifer
So I'm in a walmart parking lot after purchasing some cheap plastic crap, and see a yellow 2003 Ford Mustang... Now normally that's not a big deal, but for some reason this guy had a decal on his front windshield that said "SALEEN".

Are Saleen and Ford in cahoots to produce a special Mustang?

Saleen used to be a Mustang tuner, but with the S7, he is now an auto maker. Did the yellow 'Stang look normal, or was it upgraded?

Wow, look at that.... It was the S281 :Q Although I guess I was wrong on the year of the car I saw... it looked a lot like a '03

Are you sure? Problem with Saleen Mustangs is you can buy the body kits and decals from Saleen, so it might have just been a normal 2003. Real Saleens have number plates, usually by the shifter.

What others have said before was correct, when thinking of Saleen you can indirectly compare it to Dell with Steve Saleen being Michael Dell, Steve Saleen was a professional race car driver who went on in his spare time to make customized Ford Mustangs, I believe he started sometime in the 80s in california, people started to really like his cars and demanded more thus his buisniess was born. At first and up until recently he would take base model mustangs, upgrade them with various motor, suspension, interior and body kits/decals but now with the introduction of the S7 he is a bonified auto maker...personally while I love the S7, I like alot of his older cars because they are very rare and much more affordable. Certain Ford dealerships began offering Saleens with factory warranties not to long ago.

I wish more posts on ATOT were of this caliber.

You guys havn't seen the Saleen Ford Focus NO2 model yet? Rided out Focus with a 10lb nitrous setup "stock" from Saleen. They are at some Ford dealerships right now. Of course, rumor has it there is a seal on the bottle and filling it will void the warrenty.

The numbers are printed in front of the left headlight.
