Anybody knows the difference between the "Sale By" and "Expire" warning on food labels?

I know Expires means don't eat it, but I wasn't sure about "Sale By." I drank 1/2 gallon of Orange Juice today that was "Sale By June 10th." Didn't taste as sweet, a little sour. Oh wait, OJ are already sour.

The store is supposed to sell it by the SELL BY date. You then take it home and consume it by the EXPIRATION DATE.

what if there is no expiration date? On almost everything I see only the sale by date and no expiration date.

On a gallon of milk I see only a date on it. No mention of it being a sale by date or expiration date.
