Saints Row 2 stops at 90% on the loading screen

The comedy of errors and horrible experinces with my new computer seem to be continuing. I bought Saints Row 2, which tears horribly even with vsync on. Anyway, the first day I had it, it would actually run.

Since that first day, it gets to 90% on the loading screen and hangs. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it with no luck. I have no idea what could have changed, I don't think I did anything. One day it works, the next it doesn't.

Any ideas?

Considering buying this for $5 at d2d right now but metacritic reviews all say pc performance is seriously f'd up. There's a patch which some claim works out some of the kinds. It's only 5 bucks so no biggie, but anyone play this with the patch and call tell if it now runs ok?

I tried to get the game to work on my pc about a month ago with all the patches enabled and I couldn't get past the splash intro screen without it crashing. It's unfortunate that GTA and any GTA-esque game really aren't good on the pcs or setup to be on the pcs.

Oh well. Good luck if you decide to do it. I'd rather spend the $5 on Taco Bell.

It runs pretty good on my PC. The single most important thing with this game is to install it to your FASTEST hard drive. If you have an SSD, even better. The games streaming engine blows on slow drives.

It's really a fun game. Well worth the $5. Heck, it's worth $5 just to base jump from a helicopter!
