what you're missing is that they would have gone after him the exact same way with out without a bounty.

People tend to miss this. I said two years ago that the Giants had bounties when they took out 5 major players in 6 games, but everyone said I was being a hater since I'm a Cowboys fan and the Giants were just playing good defense. I said the same thing when Hall made his comments about hurting Romo before the Skins game and also the same thing about the Giants and their bullshit before the Superbowl.

If you think fans dislike a player - odds are, actual NFL players dislike them even more. You think you were tired of all the attention Favre got? Yah, those players were tired of it too - and what better way to get attention away from him than to injure him and take him out of the game completely. Fans want to see big hits and big catches - WE have setup this league to play the way it is, and the MEDIA has fed what we want to see. This is nothing different.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Butt is still hurt I see, and worse off even, somebody got paid to hurt your butt.

It was plainly obvious the Saints were playing dirty against the Vikings. I look forward to seeing them lose draft picks and get reamed with fines.

Yah, imagine that - someone was trying to injure someone in a violent sport. Very realized it doesn't happen before! D:

So you think it is fine for coaches or players to pay players to intentionally injure players? Seriously?

The saints should be fined heavily all the players and coaches involved banned from the league.

Oh, and interestingly, Gregg Williams was DC of the Redskins when Manning suffered the hit that they believe caused his neck issues.

In that case, I hope Andrew Luck turns out to be the next JaMarcus Russell, the Colts are thrown backwards in time to a land where dinosaurs rule the earth, a cavern opens up under Lucas Oil Stadium, it sinks into a pit of lava, flips upside down, and slowly sinks on fire, and the Colts flag, in flames, is the last part to sink.

<deep breath>

So, why do you really hate the Saints?

Why not? They are already being paid millions to maim each other. What' s a couple hundred more bucks? When someone dies (I know it will happen) it won't be because there was a bounty on his head. It's the sport itself. You know there are players out there who are intentionally trying to hurt other players.

He very well might suck. That's what I'm afraid of and I think Irsay will be making a big mistake moving a healthy Peyton Manning.

Honestly, though, someone here (forgot who) said they envision Luck being Matt Ryan 2.0 and that's probably pretty accurate.

I don't hate the Saints (Brees graduated from my alma mater). I hate dirty play and I've always thought Gregg Williams was an asshat.

Please point to a clause in any active NFL player's contract that says something to the effect that "you are being paid to injure opposing players."

You guys can come up with excuses all you want, but don't take my word for it and feel free to ignore me since I have no actual power in the NFL and my opinion is as a fan, as are your opinions. Roger Goodell, on the other hand, sees it as a huge problem and you won't be able to ignore him.

Yes, the James Harrisons and Albert Haynesworths of the world -- look at the fines, suspensions, etc. they've racked up.

Fixed.

Love,

There is nothing in the contract stating that. It is implied. These kids have been trained day in and day out since they were kids, that they need to take out the best player on the opposing team. You know this as well as I know this. It all starts at the pop warner level. It's worst in high school.

As for haynesworth and harrison, they're just dumb idiots who don't know how to hide their play. A little twist here, and extra bend there. Oh maybe an accidental head first plowing. It's a lot more subtle than you realize.

That's my worst fear. You just don't know for sure but at least Luck doesn't seem to have the attitude issues Leaf had.

Heh. I know, there were no warning signs. That little mistake took my beloved Chargers another 5 years to recover from. :(

Sad to see the Saints showed their true colors. The best part though is where they're trying to fuck over the person most responsible for the new rep they built post Katrina, and then proceed to shit all over it and are probably gonna paint him as the bad guy for wanting fair money. Not that anyone should be surprised at how things are turning out considering the area (corrupt people in power, in New Orleans? I'm shocked! Shocked I tell ya) and the organization (Saints they ain't).

As for Luck. Matt Ryan is nowhere close, and only a moron would compare him to Leaf. I think he's further along than Peyton was coming out of college, and he's also more athletic (his combine numbers are right there with Cam Newton's). The Colts have already moved on from Manning. The team isn't going to the Super Bowl if he stays a Colt, so why bother screwing over the end of his career and delaying the move to Luck?

Has anyone thought about this:..players were paid money...which is a violation of the league's cap rule...any money paid to players has to be included under a contract.

And....while not a huge issue...what about taxes on the money paid to the players? Will that be brought up?

Oh snap -- don't bring logic into this discussion!

I'm a Brees fan, and the Saints have not treated him well. I'd agree with you.

I personally think Luck will be very good but you never know.

should be interesting on what happens. IF they go after the saints hard i suspect it will open the flood gates on accusations.
