Saints caught running "bounty" program that awarded injuring players

And didnt the Titans say they were cheating against them this past year also? I hate the aints and always will. It was a great day when Payton broke his leg!

That's got to be why Hank Baskett dropped the onside kick in SB 44 -- he thought the Saints had a bounty on him! Those dirty assholes.

anyone who thinks this ONLY happens on the Saints is only lying to themselves. this has been known to happen for some time now and is common as shit.

Sounds grossly illegal paying somebody to deliberately hurt another player, there should be prison terms over this. I don't give a hot fvck about football anyway, though, so...🙂

Given the level of involvement by coaches/management, I don't think this happens throughout the league. Supposedly Sean Payton's Agent put up bounty money as well 😱

IDGAF if others are doing it, they need to be fined and punished as it is against the rules and shouldn't be going on. In a league that is trying to emphasize player safety, and that is getting sued by former players, this shouldn't happen. Players complain that the NFL doesn't care if they are hurt or injured, and then they go and do this stupid shit that is potentially career ending?

Pretty sure paying someone to hurt someone else results in JAIL if you don't happen to be on a football field.

😀

while I agree it's commonplace in the NFL for groups of players to have this type of system going on, it's not at all common with this level of involvement from people above and beyond the players.

Curious to see the outcome of this

just read some new details - I'm thinking Greg Williams should not be allowed to coach this year, the Saints are going to lose multiple draft picks, and the players involved, as well as the Saints themselves, are going to get a series of record-high fines. This is ugly.

Man this really sucks. What horrible timing, now there is a huge doubt if Brees is even going to play for the Saints 🙁 Gregg Williams admits to doing this in Washington as well.

What is confusing to me is why would any of the players really want to injure someone for a measly 1-1.5k when they are making millions? Seems weird

That Bounty pot must have been slim pickins last season, the Saints could not sack a freakin' paper bag.

Anyways there is no doubt that other teams do this, its just that the Saints got caught. I have a bad feeling about the 2012 season.....

Greg Williams has been nothing but trouble for us. To think he had to do this just to come up with a barely passable defense. This is going to cost draft picks.

Get rid of Williams.

Getting rid of Williams isn't going to do it. Almost 30 members of the Saints organization were willing participants in this bounty program. The entire organization seems to be poisoned.
