Happened upon this at a little movie rental place by my house. I enjoyed it. The uniforms and weapons looked pretty authentic which is always a bonus. There are some factual innaccuracies which is pretty much the norm for Hollywood but overall I enjoyed it.

It's not nonstop action or even centered on action. It's about soldier's trying to make it home in one piece and make sense of situations beyond their control.

Any of my ATOT war buffs seen this?

I have it on top of my Netflix queue for a while now but it's showing "Long Wait". The ratings and reviews seem to be pretty good.

How is it compared to Band of Brothers or SPR?

It's similar. It's not focusing on the biggest explosions or absurd premise like Windtalkers. It's about the people on both sides. As I mentioned the uniforms and weapons appear very authentic and enhance the film. So, if you like SPR and BoB you'll enjoy this film.

Sorry to hear that, man. At least they had good taste, though! :p

It's a Mormon-filmmaker movie. All of us Mormons in Salt Lake have been all over it. I have not yet seen it, but I hear it's most awesome. The weird thing thinking about the war is the people on both sides (German and Allied) who were members of the LDS church, fighting against each other, for their country. There may not be much focus on the LDS part of it, but just wondered if that is what is portrayed.

I am sure there were Catholics, and Protestants, and Lutherans fighting on both sides. Doesn't make LDS any more special IMO.

Yes, I read of this on IMDB. However, don't get your hopes up. The focus isn't religion although "Deacon" is a spiritual guy. It's really no more Mormon or religion centered than other war flicks I have seen.
