"I have GQ hair and they made me wear this thing."This hipster fad is getting old.
BTW, what do you call them?
Knit cap or toboggan?
Why the hell have I always called them toboggans?

Call em "knit foreskins" and be done
Toboggans? Where the hell did you pick that name up from? Those are sleds
I suspect it may have been because once upon a time people wore them while "tobogganing".
Not sure.
That's what my daughter calls them. I call it a loose knit hat. I don't wear knit hats of any kind.I did hear a girl wearing one refer to it as a "slouchy" but I'm not certain that's a common term, as that is probably the only person I have ever conversed with that wore one.

Maybe you confused tuque with toboggan. Both start with t and are wintery.
As far as that knit cap/tuque style, I thought that only people with long hair wore their caps that like. People with dreads, women, etc. I dont think I've seen it on a short haired person, but I might have assumed the long hair.

Nah, toboggan is (more or less) the same as a toque...or a watch cap (may be shorter and only cover the tips of the ears...or even a stocking cap.(may be very long with a tassel on the end) Different regions...different names for the same thing.
"long, flat-bottomed sled," 1829, from Canadian French tabagane, from an Algonquian language, such as Maleseet /thapaken/. The verb is recorded from 1846. As American English colloquial for a type of long woolen cap, it is recorded from 1929 (earlier toboggan cap, 1928), presumably because one wore such a cap while tobogganing.
Not really. Pretty much a military watch cap.
Lots of short haired guys wear them.
I guess Boomer had mentioned that though.
