Sager 5796 Notebook - Using a TV as a monitor with HDMI

Ok here's the problem

I have a 42in Vizio LCD TV

I also have a Sager 5796 Notebook w/ Vista 64bit

I was using a DVI -> HDMI cable so that I could use my TV as an external monitor. The Video came in fine on my TV (It recognized the signal on my HDMI channel 2 [TV]). The 3.5mm RCA audio cord was connected to my laptop and my TV, however the Audio still came out my notebook speakers and not my TV speakers. On a much older desktop the RCA audio cord worked.

I opted to go out and buy an HDMI Cable today to "fix" the problem since HDMI supports Video and Audio. I hook up the cable to my notebook and my TV. It doesn't recognize the signal at all.

Is there anything I have to do in control panel or some other option so my TV is recognized as an external monitor with an HDMI Connection? If so, what?

If anyone has any idea I would appreciate it

I would like to add that my graphics card is an nvidia 9800 gtx if that helps at all
