Safely remove hardware

Lifer
This is something new on a NEW build.

When using Safely remove hardware on my pen drive, I get the message "The device 'Corsair Flash Voyager USB Device' cannot be stopped because a program is still accessing it.

No matter how long I wait, I still get this message.

Of course, I can just pull the pen drive out of the USB slot, but I'd like to do it right.

Any ideas?

To eject my external hard drive, windows explorer must be closed, and 90% of the time I have to go through the process of ejecting it in SRH twice in a row,

Yep, I'm aware of the Explorer thing. That's not it in this case but thanks for the reply.

You can also restart the PC & remove the drive safely while its posting, or shut down & do so while its off.

Well, I can pull it out with no problem. I was just curious as to what might be causing the message.

Thanks.

It's possible if your pen drive has software that runs on it like U3 then you may have to use the u3 software to eject it properly, otherwise it's still going to be running the exe off of the drive when you try to eject it. Just a thought.

Well, thanks for the thought, btcomm. We'll look into that theory.

Be careful just pulling it out if it has any data on it you care about... although rare, its possible to corrupt a flash-drive by removing it without stopping it first.

Obviously if its blank you don't need to be concerned.

I know that just pulling it out is not a good idea but right now I have no choice.

I was just transferring files from one computer to the new build's hard drive.

I'll keep looking into the problem.

Thanks for the advice.
