"Safely Remove Hardware" Icon

Anyone know how to get rid of this icon from the system tray?

heard someone mention that double clicking it did the trick!
don't know for sure as it's not in my systray!

Double clicking it brings up the status. I see this since I moved my CDRW to an external firewire enclosure. It's not really a big deal, I just prefer to have as little as possible down there on that system tray!
