See the website for qualifications.

Good right now only in a few states: Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia (they will be adding more states soon).

This is a government funded program, you get an absolutely free cellphone with appoximately 68minutes+ per month. Unused minutes rollover to the next month (no fee), there is no obligation whatsoever. Emergency service access is free. If you need more minutes you can purchase cards at different stores (Walmart, 7-11, etc), or on demand from your phone or online.

Texting is available ($.03 to send/receive) and voicemail is provided.

The service is pretty is limited but if you're out of work or have a very low income at the moment it is good to have especially in an emergency.

I got my phone already, and the phone I got was a Motorola W175g. Nice little device, especially for free.

Please let's keep politics out of this thread. I just wanted to inform people about the service.

yea, i just found out a friend of mine got one for free as well, very nice of them to do this at a time in need.

I've seen ads on tv about this but assumed it was a scam. Thanks - I've sent the link to my parents, who are both retired.

FYI, This is another division of the Tracfone brand, along with Net10. All three brands are reputable, but SafeLink is the designated government supported branch.
