Hello Math. 21*181 = 3801

Except he most likely has turbo on... "I`d buy that for a dollar" ;)

RaistlinZ... When you ran 21X200 did you have turbo on then...? That would be like trying to make 4.4Gh...!

You guys with the 9xx's make me jealous.

But I thought i would add something. My rig starts demanding volts and gets hotter the higher I set my BCLK. This cpu has been up to bclk=230, but just to say "hi." My MB will allow me to run with Turbo Boost on Auto. That means i can set my multiplier to 22x, and it allows me to run 22x182=4004 24/7 at 1.3125v, which is not bad for an i7 860.

If you can do that on an Asus board, you could keep your 4GHz and run cooler. Just a thought.

currently, i'm struggling to get it stable at 4GHz... I'm at 1.35V on the VCore, +100mV on the VTT, and 1.325 on the QPI. Ram is locked at 1.65V running at 8-8-8-24 1T. HT is enabled, i'm @ 191x21. I have G.Skill 1333 3x4GB ram ripjaw series.

I just passed intel burn test standard test. I'm pretty sure if I go to maximum, it'll crash. The best I can do stable is 3.8 Stable. @ 21x

Should I drop down? I would like to hit 4GHz under 1.3V, but I'm not so sure this is possible... my idle temps are ~53, max is 93 @ 1.35V

i would try upping your vtt to around +250mV area and see if that helps. There should also be no need to have your QPI PLL that high... 1.200-1.225 should be plenty

i was easily able to hit 4.0Ghz (20x200), but I had to jump through hoops to get it stable at 4.2Ghz (came to the conclusion, it's not worth it)

you can see my exact settings in my sig below, but keep in mind every chip is different...

edit:
also when you crash what happens?
-Does your computer freeze (most likely memory then, i would try 9-9-9-24 2T)
-BSOD 101 (most likely vcore)
-BSOD 124 (most likely vtt or vcore)
-do your video drivers crash before the BSOD?
-something else?

@ 4.0GHz, I can play games just fine for hours, just when I do a max intel burn test, it'll crash. Standard will pass though...

crash = Blue Screen So Far... I think Right now, I did P95, and gadgets crashed. I lowered my QPI to 1.2... i'm still @ 191 x21.

The blue screen I saw wasn't a 101 or a 124... which number are you referring to??

trying loosening your memory timing to 9-9-9-24 2T and see if that helps

I've had Turbo disabled and HT enabled the whole time. I want to keep HT enabled, otherwise I would have just gone for an i5-760 or something. Nevertheless, I'm fine where I am now. My goal was 4.0GHz which I've achieved; 4.2GHz would just be greedy. :D

And my math was off before. Memory is currently running at 844MHz with the timings in my sig.

This is probably my best i7.

as in clock speed wise, not performance wise.

The 980X is better @ threaded aps, but dude my 975 was one sick clocker.

4.4ghz /w ht on @ 1.376 under load... :D
Id get KARMA kicking my ass if i asked for more.

ask gillbot. :D

There will be some that i cant let go of... ie.. that 975.
Then there was a crapastic 965 i gave to gillbot.

Then i loaned out a A0 Gulftown to skinnee to bench..

So its a mix of what i do.

What i dont do is sell them...
Even if someone was to offer me a lot
(and believe me, 2 months pre launch i was getting crazy email offers on the 980X)...
i dont sell any of my ES's... it would be a nice way for my sponsor to HATE me.

Just put ac in my room and cranked her up and did a prime95 run @ 3740 using 1.2v, temps were 69-67-66-63. Ambients play a very large role =)

I use a coolermaster v8 and antec 900 case
