Hey guys...and gals...it's been years since I researched safe voltages on a 2500k. I usually run it at 4.4GHz with no problems, but had a few issues lately. I'm not a gamer. Please school me on this.
For 22nm Intel CPUs, ~1.3v is generally considered a safe upper limit for day-to-day use. I'd imagine 32nm CPUs could probably take 1.35v, or perhaps even 1.4v. I wouldn't run more voltage than is needed though.
Someone asked that question a few years ago, and one of the people who replied was an Intel engineer. Although, you may not like his answer. Enough other people answered to give you a good idea, though. http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2137040
