Safe mode VGA enabled

Looking for some advice here. All of a sudden when i try to boot into windows i get to the loading screen, but then all of a sudden the monitor goes blank and then to standby. However when I press F8 and use safe mode vga enabled I am able to get windows to boot.

Once there, if i change the resolution the computer will freeze and the cycle begins again. I tryed uninstalling the video drivers, but that hasn't worked either.

If anyone has had experience with this type of issue, i would appreciate the help.

I use windws XP home
1800XP+
1 GB RAM
ATI 9800 flashed PRO (a long time ago)
40GB Seagate hard drive
SOYO Dragon 7+
LITE ON CD/RW

that happened to me long ago when i had geforce 5200 pci. did you coonnect the tv out and then back to vga and this happened. well same thing happened to me when i did that. i had to reformat.....good luck

Sure sounds like the video drivers got clobbered.
Not clear exactly what you did with video drivers.

Did you delete (remove) the drivers from the hard drive and then
installed clean drivers ?
