Safe Duron temp??

I know it's been asked before, but I couldn't find the thread.

What is a safe and acceptable temp to run a Duron 600 at?

Duron case temperature can resist upto 90C.
Take it lower for safety, but most overclocked Duron/TBird temperature range mostly between 50-55 which is still considered very normal.
Even without overclocking Duron runs at about 44-45 C with bad heatsink, with TBird 800-900 can run at 50-55 C.

So, I believe as long you are still below 60 C, you are still very safe.

40C for a Duron is not something to aim for, cause it can´t be done. Even at default voltage and speed my Duron 600 went to 40-45C at full load, and now it´s at 61C at full load (at 1GHz 😉). It hasn´t crashed yet, so I don´t think it´s anything to worry about. They are made to take alot more heat than the PIII´s for example and produce alot more heat too so I´d say if you´re under 70C you´re safe.

If you want your Duron at 40C or less try water cooling. My Duron is running 1Gig at 1.85v and hovers around 34-36C depending on load with a room temp of around 28C. You might also want to try putting a copper 'Cap' on the CPU to aid in spreading the heat from the tiny core. Check out the article at www.overclockers.com for details on making yourself the cap.
