Safari not letting me download Chrome...

Red Storm

Lifer
When I try to download chrome, after accepting the TOS, it waits a bit and then goes to the thank you page, but it isn't downloading any .dmg file. Any idea why?

Running Safari (Private Browsing disabled) on Lion.

Have you tried it from another browser? Maybe google's server had a hiccup?

Seems to be a common issue for Lion users. I am going to download it from my Windows box at work and just take it home on flash.

Have you tried to check the download list? It's on the top right corner. There should be a button right next to the search field.

Safari on Lion doesn't pop the download list up anymore. It simply launches a download silently and completes it before you even notice that it's there.

The download list is grayed out, which from my understanding means it's empty. I checked the download location and nothing was there, so I know it's not downloading.

I'm not alone: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Chrome/thread?tid=0a58b9e358b38b10&hl=en

(note, the Best Answer solution doesn't work either)

I ended up just downloading it here at work on Win7. Will take it home and install. It's a strange issue...

Strange indeed. Usually, it would pop up right in the download list regardless of which version of OSX you have.

Last I tried, which was... yesterday, Chrome's Dev channel still worked fine on 10.7.2. Also, if you don't use Launchpad, you may want to do an update to 10.7.2. It allows manually rearranging fullscreen applications and desktop, and in my opinions, that made it perfect.

Now if only they would fix battery drain.

I am very annoyed with full screen apps at the moment. Right now I like to connect my MBP to the TV, run a movie/TV show on that screen while using the laptop's screen for chatting/email/surfing. The problem with Lion? When any app goes full screen, all other screens go dark and become useless. Defeats the whole purpose to multi-display. 🙁

I should clarify, the dev build does seem to download, but I don't want that, I want the stable release.

Grabbed Chrome last night, under my MBA/10.7.2. Didn't have any issues downloading it or installing it. There a way to force the browser cache to RAM under Chrome so I don't needlessly wear down my SSD? My midnight Google search didn't turn up anything helpful, found several ways to set up RAM disks under Windows though.
