EDIT: If you like country:

The Baby by whoever, I don't remember
Paint Me A Birmingham by Tracy Lawrence
Whiskey Lullabye by Brad Paisley w/Alison Krauss

Whiskey Lullabye is a good one =*(

Robbie Williams - Angel
Sarah McLachlan - Angel
Damien Rice - Blower's Daughter

Good Thread btw =)

Everything by Natalie Merchant. Personal favs:

- Tell Yourself
- Just Can't Last
- Not In This Life
- Frozen Charlotte
- My Skin
- Thick As Thieves

Right artist, wrong song. You meant to say "Beloved Wife."

You were the love
for certain of my life
you were simply my beloved wife
I don't know for certain
how I'll live my life
now alone without my beloved wife
my beloved wife

I can't believe
I've lost the very best of me

you were the love
for certain of my life
for 50 years simply my beloved wife
with another love I'll never lye again
it's you I can't deny
it's you I can't defy
a depth so deep
into my grief
without my beloved soul
I renounce my life
as my right
now alone without my beloved wife
my beloved wife

my beloved wife
my love is gone she suffered long
in hours of pain
my love is gone
now my suffering begins
my love is gone
would it be wrong if I should
surrender all the joy in my life
go with her tonight?

my love is gone she suffered long
in hours of pain
my love is gone
would it be wrong if I should
just turn my face away from the light
go with her tonight?

How could I forget The Verve Pipes' The Freshman?

because it's pathetic. "oh woe is my teenage angst"

it's not teenage angst. it's about these two guys who are best friends who dated this one girl at seperate times. it tells how she gets an abortion with the one guy and how she kills herself eventually and the guys are all sad about it.

Yeah, if you listen to the lyrics it's pretty numbing man.

White Flag is not sad. It's about a crazy bitch that won't let go.

Not really. Its still a sad song.

Its based on the break-up of her real relationship.

And I can very much relate to her position in the song.
