I dunno about saddest, but I think Dust in the Wind by Kansas is a great song, and can bring a tear to my eye when I listen to it (it reminds me of my grandfather).

YOU'RE MY BOY BLUE :(;) Sorry, had to do it :)

My vote for saddest song is Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven :(
Haha, Old School is such a great movie.

Yes it is.

What do you find to be the saddest song?

I used to think it was CATS IN THE CRADLE... but now i'm 100% positive it's Last Kiss, by Pearl Jam.. it chokes me up every time.
I agree with Cat's in the Cradle...although Dan Fogelberg's Same Auld Lang Syne gets to me if it's cold and snowy outside.

:(

If you think it's Cats In The Cradle, then you haven't delved deeply enough into Harry Chapin's library of music, and I strongly encourage you to do so.

I actually agree with Cats in the Cradle. I think it's sad, because it's so true for so many people.

Saddest song on the planet? No way. Like I said - grab some Harry Chapin albums and you'll hear sadder. In particular "The Shortest Story" on Greatest Stories - Live, but there are many others.

Taps on the bugle, as mentioned above, is very sad. Especially if you've heard it for real. Along the same lines, those Scottish bagpipes they play at funerals are sad too. That, and "Danny Boy".

As far as popular music goes, George Jones' "I'll love you till I die" wins, hands down.

Last Kiss by Pearl Jam is a cover, people. And a pretty bad one at that. Original by Frank Wilson is much better.

My vote for the saddest rock song of all time has always gone to Meatloaf's "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad".

Taps is probably the saddest of all though.

Day is done,
gone the sun,
from the lakes,
from the hills,
from the sky,
all is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.

"Hold on to 16 as long as you can... changes come along real quick; make us women and men."

That line depresses the hell out of me. Gosh, I miss 16!

I'm only 21 and I miss it already, too :(

Can't say I don't enjoy 21, though

:D

It's all downhill. I'm at 32 and the fun is over. I was on campus yesterday to pay tuition, watching all the nubile young undergrads walking around, thinking... well, thinking the same things as I thought in my undergrad days. Alas, those days are behind me.

I have to agree with Clapton's song...I am not sure how he can sing it and not break down!

Alice in Chains - Nutshell... extremely depressing to me because I can almost relate to what it is about.
Pearl Jam - Black is another one as well.
