Nothing of any detail was apparently said.

UPDATE: Saddam in the message today mentioned the farmer who shot down an American helicopter.

Iraqi citizens have been driving to the edge of the city to see how close we are themselves, guess they don't trust everything they hear from their leaders either. They are going home and telling their friends and neighboors we are there...

heh...BBC Live Video feed just entered a summary segment and said the televised appeared to have been taped but they don't know when.

They're showing the clip now with a translation.

Saddam mentioned 'the Iraqi farmer' who shot down the helicopter (like that really happened...but it came from Saddam)

it was taped in my opinion, remember in 1991 we didn't see or hear from him either DURING the conflict, this is his normal MO.

well, considering the power is out to most of the city, not many ppl in baghdad will see it.

True. But it does seem to put to rest the doubt that he was killed or severely injured. He was flipping pages in a notebook while reading.

Now, there will still be some who will say this was a double but wasn't Saddam averse to having his doubles speak on TV for him?

probably was taped, but apparently after march 19th, if that ends up being him. he makes some specific references that are just to coincedental to believe he just made it up before the war started

Saddam averse to having his doubles speak on TV for him?

They are not as naive as Saddam would like to think, maybe they don't trust much of what he says anyway, or already know better.

cant fake voice testing, unique, he wouldnt let alot of his doubles speak in public out of fears like that.

I did not hear what he ranted about, but I don't doubt he is still alive.

Apparently the US nixed third party talks on behalf of Saddam regarding a cease fire...(here we go again, ok, we will come back in 12 more years) that were being conducted by the French and Russians...

Still trying like he*l to get that extra 4 billion each Saddam promised them...

well, he talks about the apache helicopter, and all the references to baghdad. looked legit to me

He's probably off sunning himself in Aruba, trying to keep the sand out of his crack.

Those are indeed gone, but there are problems starting new contracts. Think I will start a new thread about that.

Anyway, I had not believed too much in him being gone, but had hoped he was killed. Might have simplified things, but alas, seems not to be true.

I haven't seen the actual video, but I've been looking at web sites(CNN, FOXNEWS, MSNBC) that have still photos from the tape posted. To me it doesn't look like Hussein. Hard to tell though since the photos I've seen are fuzzy. Really looks like a double, and not a very good one, to me. Heck it could be Horatio Sans.............

Saddam never let his doubles speak before. The voice patterns would be too different and would be recognizable.

Now, if the Pentagon examines this tape and finds a different voice pattern then that would certainly rekindle the belief that Saddam is dead. Until then....

but he has never been dead before either.

i don't know if he is alive or dead... doesn't seem to matter much regardless. He has had a suspiciously LOW profile.
