It was bound to happen, I got a speeding ticket for 82 in a 65. What's the usual penalty for this? (and associated costs)

Should say on the back of the ticket. If you worried about the cost of the ticket, you may be able to go to court to get community service instead. Do some research on that first though. Should be about $130. At least that's what I paid when the DAMN CHP gave me a ticket for changing lanes without signalling! I mean, WTF?

Anyway, where did you get the ticket? I commute a few days a week on 50 and wouldn't mind knowing of another speed trap.

west bound under prairie city. Not really a new speed trap, I was just going a tad bit faster than normal while traffic was going a tad bit slower.

It'll be roughly $175 and 1 point on your license. If you haven't taken traffic school in the last 18 months, you can take traffic school instead, and not get the point on your license. You will, however, still have to pay the $175 (it's not a fine anymore, but an "administrative fee"). You'll also have to pay the $20 or so for the traffic school. You can take traffic school online.

You will need to show up in court and request traffic school to get it, you can't jsut mail in the ticket and ask for traffic school. If this is your first ticket in 3 years or longer, it liekly won't affect your insurance rates whether or not you take traffic school.

<- has too much experience w/ tickets.

My girlfriend just got a ticket in Walnut Creek which was going to be about $280. She went to court though and they cut it in half. No other reason except she showed up in court. I suggest you go too, it can't hurt.

You broke the law, so you are the sum of the earth and a bad roommate. ;)

in CA you can get rid of the point on your driving record by going to driving school.

I am so glad I am married so that I don't have to have you as a roommate.

And for your own good, I should make sure that you realize that if you keep disrespecting the law and yourself and you will soon be burning in hell.
