Bought a 3500(130nm) + 3000(90nm) + K8N Neo 2 Platinum + A8V Rev2.00 Deluxe.

Also, 2 sets of 1gb patriot pc3200 ram, one is 2-2-2-5 TCCD, the other 2-3-2-5 chips.

Firstly, set up this:

Athlon 64 3000+, K8N Neo 2 with latest bios revision,
1gb(2x512) 2-2-2-5 ram,
XFX 6800GT,
WD74gb Raptor
Seagate 120gb IDE hdd
ND3500A DVDRW
Akasa 460W PSU

It works fine, except for some random lockups, as long as only either a SATA, or PATA harddrive is plugged in.

As soon as I plug in both an IDE, and SATA hdd, it wont boot off anything(cd, hdd 1, hdd 2).

Tried the sata on slots 1-4, and the hdd on primary slave/sec master/sec slave.

Nothing works, tried a few other fixes(including striping the SATA as a raid array)

Secondly:
Athlon 64 3500+, Asus A8V Rev2 Deluxe
1x 512mb 2-3-2-5 Patriot RAM
XFX 6800GT
Seagate 120gb hdd
Sony Floppy
Akasa 460W and Enermax 435W PSU

First time I tried powering it on(with the akasa), it emitted a continous siren, and screen stayed black.
After 3 tries, it stopped powering on.

Then tried it in my old chieftec case with the Enermax, still wouldnt power on.

It seems both motherboards have countless stories of severe issues, and yet there really is no choice to them, when replacing.

Any ideas?

*sighs*

you have a damn bad luck or maybe other one of your components is faulty, just in case try getting the HD in Cable select in the msi board and try changing the channels

Well, the a8v doesnt really matter about components any more, since it wont even power on :|

Another problem with the K8N(well, i think it's the K8N), is whenever I right click nview in the taskbar, or go into advanced under display properties/settings, the screen goes black for half a second.

(xfx 6800gt, completely unmodified)

I heard in another forum to enable raid on all sata ports regardless if you are running raid on your SATA drives...Maybe this is a none issue....

Mine acted the same way. The minute I installed the second drive. It actually ended up corrupting my harddrive and that was at default speed and memory settings....

I reinstalled on an ide drive and plugged in second ide drive and I was fine even now at 600mhz higher in clock and ram higher then the default pc3200 levels....

Something is weird there that I may need to get to the bottom of...

The harddrive basically went to windows screen where the little bar just kept going and going and going..until eventually a blue screen came up and talked about unmountable drive.....I unplug 2nd and no matter the settings no go until I reformatted it and reinstalled.....Ram memtest at 2650 levels higher then at stock levels and no errors after 14 passes..I don't think I corrupted it with memory.

I may have suspected the agp lock as actually working but at levels I am with my ide it would have most defintely hosed it by now...

Is you memory stick in slot B1 ? if you use only one stick it cannot be in the fist slot (A1)

I'm disgusted with all current s939 mobos. I pray to god that NF4 fixes this problem.
