from 40 MPH with the S2000, he better be in 1st gear when you guys start, cause that's where the power is in that car. he probably had it in 3rd or 4th or something.

1st gear at 40mph?

What does 1st gear top out at?

I'm assuming not much higher than that, so if I'm right, I'd be in second

What's your point. If you get an H22 with tranny it tops out 1st over 40 as it is. If you stick to the F series tranny it'll go even faster😀

Did I forget anything? 😛

Yeah, S2000s handle very nicely. It's always nice to have some straight line punch though.

my point was why would that guy be in first gear at 40mph?

I think I misunderstood something though. I'm talking about going from a roll, why stay in 1st gear for 3 more MPH? Get in second and save the time it took you to shift if you're at a roll

As for the H22 comment, heh, I know I'm going to be bugged about that from you time to time 😉

I don't really want to put the money for it into this car, honestly. I'd much rather put that money away till I can get a real sports car, something RWD and decent amount of power to start with.

You obviously haven't driven a manual tranny.

There's not nearly enough torque to accerlate as quickly in 1st as there is in 2nd. If there was, then why the hell would we have first gear?

EDIT: Not nearly enough torque at that RPM. The powerband of an s2k is up past about 5500. You want to keep the engine spinning at least that fast to get maximum power out of it. Same applies to a H22 or most any other small engine.
