I believe zixxer just crossed some sort of a moral boundry there. A very big, important, 20 concrete wall of a moral boundry no one had dared near before.

The only thing I ask of my girlfriend is to not wear sweatpants and wife beaters everywhere we go. Other than that I'm wholly supportive and loving regardless of physical appearance (makeup, no makeup; love handles, no love handles; no mu-mu's need apply tho!)

Yeah OP, we'll all do that once women stop expecting washboard abs, solid pectorals, massive bicepts, multiple orgasms, being ok with just cuddling when they're not in the mood, and enough wealth so they can sit stay home and raise the kids (which of course you'll be completely responsible for once your 9-5 shift is over with) in their 500K mansion housing their 50K SUV.

We'll also stop expecting so much once they stop expecting 1/2 of our worldly possessions + alimony + child support after they fvck the pool boy.

Women put pressure on themselves. They can and do choose how much time and energy they put into their appearance. They do not have to try to appeal to men who judge women solely on their appearance.
 
Women put pressure on themselves because they compete with other women. In other words, every girl wants to look better than her friends. Reasons for this vary (perceived social status, male attention, etc), but it should be obvious that over time this sort of behavior would eventually lead to completely rediculous and unnecessary standards. Not to say that men aren't partially responsible. Yes, every man wants a physically attractive woman, but the extent of what most sensible men would consider "necessary grooming" is considerably less than what women consider it. IMHO, a vast number of women wear entirely too much makeup, and I couldn't give a damn about hair coloring/highlighting.
