S-Video or Component Video

I though Component Video provided better video quality, but someone I'm talking to here claims that S-Video has better video quality. What do you guys think?

Component's better, although I personally didn't see enough difference (or any difference for that matter) to justify the price of component video cables when I have several nice S-video cables laying around. I guess you need digital TV to really notice the difference.

Component is better, but on a smaller TV you probably won't notice the difference between s-video & component. I use the component inputs on my Wega simply because I have them, I honestly can't tell much difference between that and the s-video. If they're there, you might as well use them.

I have to go with Component. I use it to connect my progressive scan DVD to my 57" Widescreen Toshiba. 😀

Uh oh... apparently I've been confused. What is the plug/jack that is generally yellow in color? Is that composite? I've been calling it component for some time now, I must sound retarded 😛

That is composite (One video + a left/right audio).

Component uses three cables for video, plus whatever audio connection you choose. So a minimum of 4 cables.

Gracias for the clarification. As soon as I read the people saying that Component was better than S-Video I thought I must have had component/composite messed up since I was certain S-Video was better than what I now know as Composite.

Smarter than I was 5 minutes ago,
