S-Video Fooked??

The computer thats in my sig i use as a PC and a HTPC, i have everything setup downstairs for when i use it on my monitor and all the connections upstairs to connect it to my TV. When the computer was off i connected the S-Video -> RCA connector into the back of the video card, when doing so i noticed a small spark but didnt think anything of it. Now alot of people know that when you computer is loading in BIOS that the TV screen scrolls down and down and down really fast but when i hits the login screen the picture stabilizes and there is now color. When i got to that screen the TV went blank, so i took it downstairs and connected it to my monitor and it said invalid frequency or some shite like that. So i loaded into safe mode and uninstalled old drivers, downloaded and installed new ATI catalyst drivers and everything works perfectly on my monitor except that when i connect it to the TV the screen does not stabilize at the login screen, it just stays black.

Any ideas??? i think i may have fuk3d the svideo cable but im not sure.

The cable itself can't be "shorted out" and the port ain't dead if it still shows something but it could be damaged. Double-check the software settings for Displays etc. Just for giggles you could see if it acts the same using the S-Video to composite adapter.

^well thats what i was connecting, my TV doesnt have S-Video so i was using an S-video -> RCA converter which came with the video card.... im not sure if its the port cause it still seems to work its just that teh picture doesnt stabilize at the login screen

Is there another input on the TV or better yet a different TV to isolate the problem to the PC? Just a thought.

If you saw a spark, the port (or some chip connected to it), is fried. I guar-an-tee it. Prolly killed the Tv-encoder output chip, especially if it's just staying black on you now. Time to replace the video card. :|
