It does not include CS, but I did not like CS anyway, SoC was pretty darn good with Oblivion Lost installed, have not played CoP yet, waiting for the CoP Complete mod to be finished.

Yes, but not as fast. You also have to move further away from the outpost before they start respawning.
Thanks. Actually wouldn't respawn until I left Cordon and entered Garbage. Snuck back on base and shot them via the attic. They dropped better weaopns this time. If I do this again I might try dropping red cans of meth.

Got the locked trader door bug on one of my saves.

Only getting ~20+ fps on SoC whereas in CS I was getting over double that with 1920 x 1200 on high settings. Hitting targets seems easier than CS but maybe my aim is getting better. In CS accuracy didn't feel right until I figured out that I could repair the weapons.

so does everyone recommend installing stalker complete, or playing thru vanilla first ?
and from what i've read, playing on master is the only way to go ?

I just picked up the $10 special off Steam. I hadn't played the first STALKER. What's this Lost mod I keep reading about?

pretty much. I see there are a lot of "realistic" gun accuracy mods to fix the issue with aiming though, i may try that.

I had a lot of trouble when I started playing STALKER, but it was mainly because I was trying to play the game at video settings that my computer couldn't handle. I spent some time tweaking my settings and, in some cases, sucking it up and outright lowering them until I had a solid frame rate that allowed me to aim properly. Once that was all set, I enjoyed the game a lot more.

Turn an FPS program on and make sure you aren't trying to run around and kill things at 13 fps because it ain't gonna happen.

Almost a month later....

Many thanks for the heads up on this. I've played through SoC twice and CoP once now. It was a blast, and I'm generally not an FPS gamer.

Oh, how I love the Vintar BC.

I invested about 10-12 hours into the original (using the "Complete" mod). The game was intriguing, and definitely made with a lot of love, but ultimately it didn't keep me hooked. I may revisit it one day.

Last time I looked, I logged about 23 hours on CoP. I kinda skipped the last chapter tho, meaning I didn't explore a whole lot. Def lots of fun tho

hm, same here. Seems you sort of get pushed through the last part. I think there are a lot of areas in the last zone I didn't even see.

Ugh, I die all the time in SoC, even on novice. I've never had issues with shooters in the past, but this one is driving me nuts. It's like my mouse doesn't move fast enough (logitech g3, highest dps, game mouse sensitivity on high), and the crosshairs only turn red when I'm perfectly on the enemy. Then when I do hit the enemy, I need to hit them like 100 times to kill them, which I figure is because my gun sucks. Glad I only spent $10 on this, because I don't think I'm going to bother wasting time perfecting my skill just to beat easy mode.

Things will get better later on once you find better weapons. If you want to start easy, there's free armor in the starting village, better than the one you already have, a silenced pistol near the village(where you save the guy with a medkit) plus some more pistol ammo. There's a way to sneak in the military outpost at the extreme left side of the fence. You get to climb the roof and get inside the attic. Be silent and you can get easy kills below. Once you get your ak the game changes dramatically.Oh, and you get tons of stuff in the crates in the attic. Most of the stuff falls below. Watch the bleeding/radiation warnings and learn to counter them and you'll get to finish probably the best game made yet.

There are about six-seven different endings for the SOC, and if you want more of it, try Priboi mod, it's what inspired COP later on. You simply cannot play this game once or twice. I must have played it like ten times and I'm sure I haven't found everything there is about it yet.

That being said, I think 10 bucks is certainly a worthwhile investment especially since you get COP also. Clear Sky and COP were not as good as SOC IMO but they bring more of the same

Thanks for the tip. I bought this on the deal and got so frustrated with it I never moved past that first area. (Where you have go past the train overpass thing.) I may give it another shot soon though.

Bought CoP a while ago on DVD. Well, it's not bad (the general idea is pretty good if you like that style) but it has a few issues that were just very annoying and prevents me from replaying it.

First there is stuttering (no not slowdowns) when you run (which basically is most of the time). After consulting Google this is just how the engine works and is not related to your gpu which I confirmed with low settings and resolutions (on a HD5850). I actually felt sick after a certain time.

Then there are a tons of glitches concerning graphics /physics (collision control). enemies shooting through doors/walls and worse.

besides that, for a FPS you don't really do a lot of Shooting. Like at least 80 rather 90% is running around.

If you want something hardcore try AMK mod on Master. You can literally fall from one shot.

Was the ending at the Wishgranter?

Two of the endings were at the Wishgranter. However, the other two I have seen are past that point, and it is actually pretty hard to get the "good" ending, as there is a lot of fighting strong enemies after that point to get there.

no, to get the good ending you needed to talk to someone, then they referred you to talk to the doctor, from there you got the stash location in pripyat which is needed....

but yea the last push there was pretty tough with all the gauss rifle and rpg guys.

You also get at least three free armored suits on the way. Two exos and at least one bulat if you're not counting the bulat in Prypiat and Fang's exo which is a must have for the NPP corridors. You should have also at least three mama's beads (if you're lucky, four) and some night star, that should put you at 80% armor if your suit is new. You can also use anomalies to regenerate the suits if you don't know that already. You need to have five top tier artifacts from that precise anomaly however( 5 batteries and you can stand in the middle of an electro without shame,5 shells for the fire anomalies, 5 springs for vortex/whirl, 5 pellicle for fruit punch).

After the decoder you have several electro anomalies and you can use the fire poltergeists to charge your armor/s. I find the game is way easier in the second NPP courtyard than the one before, because of the damn helis.

Oblivion lost had a powerful controller in the NPP courtyard but I think it was removed in OL 2.0. That was a real SOB.

I also hated those stupid cats and the unkillable zombies (unless there is a way to destroy them???)

Zombies have a lot of health to knock off. Also watching them drop once isn't enough because they will get back up again. They are slow so I tend to just run away.
