These games sound intriguing, but how is the story? Does it keep you playing the whole way through, or does it get stale quickly?

The story in stalker is an excuse plot. It's at times hard to follow, and never exceptionally interesting, and serves only to give you a reason to stay in the Zone.

The environment is the star, and it shines. But if you need story to invest your time, please skip it.

Oddly I found the story interesting, but harder to follow in COP than the others. Some complex parts when looking at how all the games tie together but in general pretty simple yet, to me, still somewhat engaging. However, you did call it, the enviroment is what has elevated the STALKER games to some of my all time favorites, even clear sky. You can ask my wife, as soon as COP was announced she asked about the release date in the US so she knew when not to schedule anything for us

Im currently play SOC, im a few hours in. Is it worth it to use the complete mod on your first play though or stick with vanilla for now?

I honestly couldn't get in STALKER: SoC. Tried getting into it twice and I didn't like it. People here said to install the Complete 2009 MOD and that it makes it a much better game.

Install Oblivion Lost immediately if you just got SoC, it changes the content a bit, but it makes for a massive improvement.

Either is good. I think Oblivion lost used complete but I'm not sure. Complete just updates everything but leaves the story intact. Oblivion changes the game a little but not much.

Probably not. I assumed this was the case with the serious sam pack, and ended up losing a copy of first encounter...

Nope. Already have SoC and CS. Bought the 9.99 deal, nothing extra showed up in my 'games manage gifts blah blah blah' section. Still, it's a sweet deal for CoP IMO........

Gah! And of course I'm getting the 'failed to contact key server' message. Evidently Steam needs to get more CD Keys........dangit, and it's slow Friday here at work too *shakes fists*

I noticed that Oblivion Lost says to use version 1.0005 instead of 1.0006. Does that mean it won't work with the steam version?

I got Clear Sky during New Years also so I picked up the 2 pack it was a good deal. So complete pack 2009 seems to be a required mod. Anything else worth installing with it?

The main thing is CoP which is a relatively new game so your really paying 10 for that and getting SoC as a bonus

STALKER SoC is the best game released in the past 5 years so everyone needs to buy it

CoP is good also. Wasn't that crazy about Clear Sky

1.0006 was pulled shortly after release. 1.0005 is all you need.

I've finished SoC three times, Clear Sky twice, and CoP once, and I look forward to replaying all of them in the future.

The Stalker games are PC gaming at its finest.
