its the last building on your left as you leave Cordon. behind Wolf there is a building and a ladder to the attic of it. climb to the top of the ladder, then edge over to the left and jump onto the roof.

run across the roof and jump over onto the roof of the last building. look inside the opening in the roof with you flashlight. there is a box at the far end. shoot the box so it breaks. walk to the other side (where the box is). you can't get inside the attic but you can pic up the suit through the opening.

edit: changed from right to left...i don't know why i said right...

Man, I forgot about the jams! In one instance, half my reloads (dying load) were from my gun jamming. Even before getting to Chernobyl, I got swarmed by a squad of soldiers. In an attempt to fight them off, I run ionto a building to funnel them through a doorway. I confront them point blank full auto, and what happens? The POS jams over and over and over again. I tried drawing my .45 a few times, but it just takes too long to fire. Why does your character feel the need to cock the damn pistol everytime even when it's loaded and a round is chambered. Nack to jams: my Tunder S14 jammed quite a bit in Chernobyl, but never as much as the AK. Thought the kalashnikov was the world's most reliable gun. Wish I didn't use it so much, then again, I'm an ammo whore and I had to much of it. Should see my 2000 rounds of 9mm in my stash at the bar🙂.

Thanks for reminding me of the shaking too. I was extremely pissed off during the last teleporting circuit level having to constantly wait for the shaking to stop. Meanwhile, the enemies had no trouble hitting me. Worst part was teleporting through and having a guy with an RPG 20 ft infront of you about to turn around.

damn. kruglov is an idiot.

i finalyl got him through to Yantar and now they want me to escort him around to get readings so they can make me a suit. fvcking idiot says "lead the way" but eh runs on ahead of you or pushes you out of the way. he ended up dying.

now i gotta reload. and i'm not sure where it last saved. it should autosave every time you enter a new zone but i'm not so sure it did this time.

also, where the hell is the family gun? i was standing right on top of the location marked on the map and nothing was there.

there are 3 possible solutions ... the *best* is to keep him alive .. save several times ... and try to time it just before the cutscene ... it is really tough if you have to do the readings yourself

my *autosave* is the same WRONG one ... over-and-over ... in other words, my autosave is useless and i must depend on esc 😛

OK ... for you guys way ahead of me .... {obviously *****spoilers*****}

i just turned off the BSer and i noticed 2 combo-locked doors ... am i supposed to have them?
😕

--or just 'go back' the way i came for the Sarcophagus ?

i also have one unread data whatchamacallit 😛

You just go out the way you came in. One of the combo doors can be opened... you need to find a Monolith soldier's PDA to get the code (off one of the bodies). There's a bunch of 5.56x45 AP rounds, grenades and medkits in there.

i was hoping for opening the last door ... [before your reply] so ALL the back and forth and all the way back and forth the second time ...

fortunately i got a *lot* of goodies for the next adventure ... but i lost my whole squad ... 🙁
now i'm on my own ["use your instincts, Marked One"] 😛

sure

i'm always *lost*
😕

... but i can always find my way back .. just follow the bodies like a trail of bloody bread crumbs

i *better* finish it tonight or i will *also* get NOTHING done tomorrow 😱

great game!

is it possible to keep kruglov alive?

i got to this bus and all of a sudden it went to like a cut scene and i woke up in the bus and kruglov was dead.

is this part of the game or can i bring him back safe? what am i doing wrong?

absolutely

stay as *close* to him as possible

and save just before the cutscene ... i am not sure if you get a random alive or dead 😉

damn it is getting *intense*

heading for the Core ...

wth is the exo suit for? ... again? 😛

it doesn't protect against radiation worth a damn :|

Helps with the bullets a bit though 😉

so what are you supposed to do ... wear all '+' radiation artifacts? 😛
😕

i much [much] prefer the 3 x78% endurance artifacts and the +89% radiation suit ... i got a +5% bullet cap and +400% health ... bullets almost bounce off - anyway

the other way, i need to access my inventory for the anti-radiation stuff - *often*

ANYWAY

*DONE* ... sorta

i got *one* of the "easy" endings ... working on the *hard* 'portal' one
[kinda stuck on a roof] 😱

anyway ...

************Spoilers***********

**ahead**>>>

**ending spoilers ... bad ones** 😉

OK, i got to the Monolith ... the 7 lit blue consciousnesses ... is that the *same* as the Wish granter? Nothing happened ... so i blew them away and got the keeper of the Monolith who asked me to join C-SPAN [or whatever] ...

1) i said "sure" and got the 'quickie' lame ending ... when i guess Doc gave up waiting for me as i prepared for a *long* nap 🙁

2) i said no and all hell broke loose and i am still playing that :Q

i *guess* these are the "true" endings

now

How the heck do i get my wishes ... is that a *different* machine?
😕

... of course i read *all* the notes and all the PDAs and have pieced together the Story [is this a DE rip-off or what?] ... it's OK sci-fi ... the gameplay is much better

but what about the damn "granter" how do i work it to see those 5 endings?
:frown:

2AM PST

i can't take it any more tonight 😛

one portal after another after another

it is almost getting *tedious*

after another

ok ... one more 😛
:Q

after another

😱

*done*

how done? 😛

like :music: Done .. da .. Done .. done .. Done! :music:

there are *few* games i go to sleep Sat nite [sun am] at 2 AM and get up 4 hours later to finish it on Easter Sunday [actually this IS my first easter marathon]
😕

😀

anyway ... *spoiler Alert*

i mean **********************MAD SPOILERS AHEAD*************

do NOT read if you have not finished STALKER ...

! ... !!!!!!!!!! ... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK?

i found the Wish Granter ... it is close by and up^ ... i only got *one* wish ... no other choices

i am *guessing* it has to do with your STALKER's "character" ... mine was a "good guy" ...
so he wished for the "Zone to Disappear"

well he got it ... !
... it "disappeared" for him when he was *blinded* :Q

sick

in the other *real* ending where you fight thru Portal after portal ....

frankly it was disappointing ... you ultimately end up facing about 10 NPCs who teleport in suddenly ... i guess it would be hard IF you couldn't lob a dozen grenades at them 😛

the grenades, shotgun, BullDog [for those special needs] and *any* automatic gun worked fine ... that Gauss gun was outstanding and became my main weapon

...piece of cake ... the Zone is *really* gone and the conspiracy to control Earth's minds is over
:gift:
[unless there is an Expansion] 😉

after such hard work, the Ending was too damn easy ... i would have loved an End Boss like in PainKiller where you would have to destroy the unleashed collective conscience [for example] ... it was much more difficult [imo] where you had to run around earlier with all the monolith fanatics sniping at you from the towers 🙁

finally, someone commented on that *droning* Russian voice where you find the wish granter and the monolith ... well i had someone do a rough translation for me ... and basically it is "taunting" you much like in the SS2 ending
--so now you "know"

****************END SPOILERS****************************

Other than a slightly weak ending ... a *tie* with Riddick for my favourite FPS of all time

first class game! highly recommended by apoppin ... and a big kudos to the Devs for creating such a stable game that didn't *need* patching [for my rig]

and definitely in my "all-time" top 10 games

and typical FPS ... Zero Replay value for me
... but i got my $35 worth

now please .... please [to the STALKER devs] release a STALKER expansion

for anyone having difficulty with 5.1 audio not working, i found what works for me.

http://www.tweakguides.com/STALKER_6.html

using the linked OpenAL32.dll file
STALKER EAX = yes
xmeridian set to DDL/DTS, padded cell

after pasting in the .dll, i immediately noticed the rear speakers kicking in with the menu music. in game there's a pronounced echo (bathroom?) applied to the audio. picking the padded cell (or equivalent) effect seems to cancel out the reverb nicely. the rear channels are at a decent volume and placed accurately. when standing in the bar, the NPC chatter was extra realistic and extra annoying.

Nice fvcking ending!!

I wanted the Zone gone not to be rich dammit!!!! :|

Edit: Other then that I loved the game, one of my all time Favorite next to Half-Life 2 off course! 🙂 😉

greedy bastage 😛

actually that is *not* the real ending
:Q
and "gone" doesn't mean *gone* ... he asks for it to "disappear" ... he just doesn't *see* it anymore

now go find the monolith 😛

... and choose wisely 😉

you still have *hours* to go

🙂

So whats the story line on this, im probably 4 hours in and all i have been doing is quests, Still can't find that speudo dogs(SP?) for the quest the fat man gives me.

those are Side Quests and unrelated often to the story line

there are only a few that actually get you anything *good*

i do them if they interest me ... and they do add a bit to your ability with guns &C.

it is plenty long without SQs if you do at least 3 of the endings ... and the long 'true' one.

that said, i never found the dog's tail and failed a [quite] few time-related quests as i didn;t want to travel back-and-forth across several large maps for a crap *reward*

Anyone have any idea if the dynamic lighting-nvidia-vista issue has been sorted out yet? I've been out of the loop for a while...

Did anyone else end-up using the specially modified M4 or whatever rifle? The one that, I think, it part of a Duty quest? I ended-up finding it long before the Duty quest, it sits in the Merc camp down the road from the Freedom base. I ended-up cleaning out the Merc base one day and happened to find the rifle, not thinking much of it to begin with because of the lower damage, I used it just to test it out and quickly fell in love. The accuracy rating on it is low, but it's very deceiving, because zooming in with the rifle it becomes INSANELY accurate. It fires a single shot, so you don't get much kick back and it works quite well as a semi-auto. I used the thing from the first time I found it all the way up until inside Chernobyle(?) and even then, after switching to the F2000 (or whatever), I regretted my decision. Easily the most perfect gun in the game, it's beautiful and oh so easy to get headshots with it. I regularly ended-up having 500-700 bullets on me for it, and picked-up more than I could carry because it's so easy on ammo. Being that it's very accurate and only fires single shots, it's very easy to not waste ammo with it. Beautiful gun.

Exoskeleton + 3 Crystal artifacts, 1 Moonlight, 1 Whatever artifact = unstoppable combo endgame.

There is no way that modified sniper version of that gun is better than the FM2000. If you want a sniper rifle, the SVDm 2 (not sure if that is the correct name) is godlike in comparison. Not having that, the Vintar is still a better choice. And once you reach Chernobyl, the Gauss rifle beats them all. The FM2000 is far and away the best close range gun in the game, which explains why you get it so late, it's practically unfair.

I used that modified sniper version for a long while though, up until I started getting into the G37, Vintar and Tungst 14, which are all around better guns. The Tungst mainly for it's grenade launcher addon which uses unique grenades that you've probably got plenty of by the time you get it.

i found it a few times, but not before failing the quest several times. i did notice that it is extremely hard to see in the inventory sometimes, so i wonder if i just missed seeing it before.

yes, the dog tails are really hard to see in the inventory .. but i never got a pseudo dog tail ... 'cause i keep really looking 😛

as to the "Exoskeleton + 3 Crystal artifacts, 1 Moonlight, 1 Whatever artifact = unstoppable combo endgame" .... i just dumped the Exo for the scientist's suit ... it is mostly 90% protection... and i don't have to fool around with radiation poisoning

not to mention 3x78% endurance is hard to beat

and the Gauss rifle rules all ... it never jams and is a guaranteed one-shot kill to the head
TRS 301 need to be "new" ... or it jams also

with multiple enemies it is the Bulldog or grenades or for closeups the Chaser [or the big] shotgun

for generic kills *any* automatic weapon is fine

Just remember the Wish Granter is *not* the end

the Monolith is 😉

Well, the exoskeleton gets you an 79.99 weight limit, since you can't run it anyways, endurance is kind of moot. (I say kind of because a negative endurance will still wear you out walking.) With the 79 weight limit, you can carry a whole slew of weapons and ammo into the end levels, which makes it a lot easier. Sniper rifles, grenade launchers, grenades, health kits, the freakin works. And the Crystal artifacts negate radiation poisoning, not only slowing it, but counteracting it, so it goes back down on it's own. Makes anti-rads useless.

The green scientist suit is nice, but it doesn't compete, plus, if you go with the exoskeleton design, you can get it replaced 2 more times in chernobyl so you have easy free replacements.

It's really an absolutely huge difference in the end game, you have to try it to understand. You become a walking death machine.

Oh and I did manage to find 1 psuedodog tail throughout the entire game. Which means they are pretty rare, but also isn't very surprising because you simply don't fight many psuedodogs. The thing most people need to realize is that there is a difference between the psuedodog and the blind dog. The psuedodog is the one with the thick wolf fur and what looks like a human face. Blind dogs are the regular dog tails. There is also missions for the blind dog tails that seem to be bugged, because I had around 13 blind dog tails, but he would never accept them. He did accept the psuedodog tail once I finally acquired one, and yes the psuedodog tails are even MORE difficult to see than the blind dog tails in the inventory screen. Bah. For what it's worth, the animal quests are pretty poorly done, and I wouldn't get hung up on them.

dude i *tried* the exosuit ... and dumped it an hour later ... it is a TANK ... but it seems slow running

my *Marked One* IS a killing machine ... he Never ran out of weapons or ammo and had a relatively *easy* time
--much easier than i thought i should have ... the Portals were *disappointingly easy*
--thet BullDog and the extra grenades sure proved their worth ... along with the Gauss rifle
[which IS an overpowered weapon for the game, imo]

... i found the *hardest* part dodging the sniper fire looking for the Antenna and the Bunker entrance. With the scientist suit, he could do the broken field run. 😉
i guess the best part was that it never wore out 😛

i also specialized in 'stealth' ... you *can* do it if you take your time ... i took out an entire squad with my knife
... for "fun"
:Q

😀

so you can do it several styles ... which i loved

and i *never* recognized a pseudo dog as "different" ... if it ran at me i blew it away

i could tell the blind dogs when they stopped to read the russian braille signs

and never stopped to "examine" the corpses

I didn't understand the difference between a psuedodog and a blind dog until much later, which is why I decided to post about it. It isn't very obvious since the blind dogs come in different variations with the psuedodogs mixed in.

Why didn't your green suit wear out? Were you unpatched? IIRC, the patch fixed a problem in the original release where suits didn't degrade. But with degradation in the game, the science suits become a lot less valuable as the degrade pretty quickly (must be due to their lack of gun/impact protection and the algorithm for degradation or something).

The snipers were easy with the SVDm2 which is arguably better than the gauss gun for sniping at distance. The only reason I dropped it is because I wanted to use the gauss gun at the end of the game since you don't get to use it anywhere else.

I walked the broken field in the exoskeleton carrying a sniper rifle. Walking. 😛. It was awesome, I felt like a juggernaut. I actually killed the entire military and monalith entrance forces before the timer even went off. There was only like 5 more guys between me and the sarc.

Anyhow, yea, I recognize you can do it anyway you please, but for anyone having trouble with the last few levels, I'd highly recommend this method.
