My favorite rifle seems to be the Vintar BC or the Sniper VLA with scope and silencer... It is so cool to watch your tracer's trajectory and adjust elevation for silent ,one pop kills from 400 yards.

Here's a tip, remember to "Main Save" before you enter Chernobyl, in Prypiat that way you can backtrack. It's not possible go back once you enter the NPP zone

Didn't know about the NPP zone and good to know. I did know once you enter and do that last bit of the power plant you can leave because the ladder is broken. 🙁

Has ANYone *noticed* ?

you don't need the DVD in the drive to play!!!

🙂

i found out quite by accident - didn't realize i left it out ... now the DVD will remain perfect!

refreshing

The best weapon I found in the game (excluding the Gauss rifle) was the Sniper TRs 301 which can be found in the Merc camp in the Army warehouses area. Flat trajectory out to 500+ yards and the most accurate shot in the game (again excluding the Gauss rifle), also silenced which helps a little. Too bad it didn't come with better magnification though. The FT 200M does more damage but isn't nearly as accurate.

Ok I just beat the game *SPOILER ALERT*

I found myself playing just to end it. Now that it's over, i'll never play the game again. The ending sucked. I got the "I want to be rich" ending. How do you NOT get that ending? I mean I wasn't even trying to make money and I had like 150,000. That includes skipping nearly every side quest. What was the point of strelok? I thought I was going to kill this guy or find out about who I am.

The beginning of this game sucked. It got better, then at the end it just sucked again. The story sucks, the obnoxious russian voice at the end level sucked. Pretty much everything sucked. I don't know why they bothered even trying to make a story out of this. I got no satisfaction out of this game, not from the ending, not from becoming the number one stalker, not from winning the arena, nothing.

5/10

tends to jam 😛

have a back-up ... i like that light little machine gun ... but then i am always sneaking or running up and unloading the clip into their face or back ... usually when they are reloading ... [gotta have 2xendurance/health/bleeding] ... i take a lotta damage but have so many kits and bandages 😛

did you guys notice that you *don't need* the DVD in the Drive?
:Q

i played all day yesterday before i noticed the DVD was in its case 😱

when's the last time that happened?
😕

there are *seven* endings Alienwho

i have only about 90,000 ... and i am near the lake

keep BUYING stuff
😉

and you *didn't guess* about strelok ... i can tell you right now 😛

😕

there is NO story ...

there was NO story with Far Cry and that didn't hurt the game play

no story with Doom 3 ... Quake 4 ... PREY ...

and STALKER joins the list

i *love* it ...

The true endings are much better. As I posted earlier, you'll have to meet with the guide and follow through.

😕

if i still have the ghost/strelok/lake quests ... am i 'on track'
--i am gonna finish anyway, if i miss anything, it's worth a replay

gotta love those "suits" ... they take tremendous damage and *never* wear out 😛

i guess they missed something

I don't know what it's like pre-patched, but with the patch suits do take damage and their stats drop accordingly. I went through 4 exoskeletons (after they dropped to 70% I ditched them) and 2 military heavy suits.

The guide quest should show up in the PDA. You meet him in Cordon (the starting area) in the same house where you met Fox in an earlier quest - the guy you give the medpack, then get attacked by a pack of dogs.

You get the guide quest when you find Ghost.

thanks

no *wonder* it is *so easy* after being initially so hard 😛

*unbalanced*
😕

i though it was just crazy russkie gear

i will *struggle on* ... without the patch

😀

so .. 😎 ... i am "on" to find Ghost ... 'thought so' ... yeah i ran into the guide ... Fox ...
... 'here' ugly doggie ... i got a lead treat for you ... play dead

oh man i just started this game and I think I'm going to toss it already.

I went into the Garbage area and apparently there are infinite bandits coming out of the checkpoint to the south. They jsut plop out of thin air even when you standing nearby and they immediately start shooting you.

a game with infinite guys spawning like that is not a game for me

Were do you find all the good exoskeletons and good body armor and what not?
I JUST turned off the Brain Scorcher and I'm now, after reading this thread, heading back to "meet the guide" to get a better ending then the one I got last time.
Both times I've not had an exoskeleton as of yet. I remember finding one were the "wish granter is" (some experimental one) but I think I couldn't find a way out of there so I had to load an older save.

After reading this:
I went through 4 exoskeletons (after they dropped to 70% I ditched them) and 2 military heavy suits.

I want to know... 😛

I'm just not good at finding things in this game. The best suit I have I bought off of the barkeep and I'm told that you find the better suits, not buy them... 🙂

So, anyone care to give me a hint?

With the patch Skinflint at the Freedom base sells exoskeletons for 200K. The military heavy armor can be found in Pripyat if you follow the true ending path. Later on in Chernobyl there are at least 2 exoskeletons and 2 military on the true ending path.

What is this talk of meeting the "guide"? I haven't seen anything about a guide.

Also, I didn't see any exoskeleton suits until I was practically in the wish granters den, and i found one a bit off the main path. By then it was useless though.

Apparently meeting the guide (after you find ghost it appears in your PDA) will give you a "ture" ending. Although I'm not sure if there really is a "true" ending or if they are all just regular endings with some just better then others.

But I got to say, the wish granter endings (rich, zone disappear, ruler, etc...) all pretty much SUCK.

Edit:
Also the freedom guy who supposedly sells the suits isn't selling any...

So all I have left is Chernobyl and Pripyat. But I just got all the way through x-16 and did not meet ghost or get the documents or get quest from the guide. A) Should I reenter through the front or go back the way I came (through the sewer)? and b) How far am I through the game if that's all I've got left? 3/4 maybe?

Ghost should be lying on the ground in the same room as the exit to the tunnel, where you fight the pull-push mutant.

I don't think you can re-enter from the tunnel because you drop down and there's no way back up.. and you probably won't be able to return to the front entrance because military helicopters destroy the place afterwards (it may be possible though, I didn't check).

wizboy11 - My game is patched (which added better equipment to the merchants) and I think you have to be friends with Freedom.

That's cool if you don't need the DVD to play, this way I can jump in anytime in the future without even thinking about disc swapping. Too bad I'm too lazy to remove it right now...

Kind of sucks that the armor can't be repaired. I'm going through suits like cheap underwear. Doesn't help that I like standing in up in gunfights to pick off heads. Now I gotta find out how to join Duty. Love their gun, too bad it's inaccurrate. Oh well, sticking to the Oba-something (AK+) due to the assload of ammo. The G36 was good to me until I ran low on ammo. Then I dropped the gun in the lab, which 'someone' proceeded to bean me with in the Lab. Almost wet my pants in there. On a side note, I'm still failing quests due to the stupid timer, but got to repeat some.

blew my mind when i started STALKER ... and realized the DVD was still in the case

i already did mine in Video [which is still being *weighed* as a "joke"] 😛

Barcelona with integrated R600 diagram

i guess i am *glad* i still have the unpatched game ... my suit is indestructable
... so far, so good
🙂

into the zone ... farewell comrades ...

oh ... look *everywhere* break crates and look in every locker 😉

I'm confused.

*Possible Spoilers*

I did the two "real endings" and I'm wondering what are you suppose to do if you don't join the "C" thing...?

You basically get kicked out and in your PDA the only thing left your you to do is kill strelok (sp?). Is that what I'm suppose to do? Am I (the person I'm playing) Strelok??

Just keep going through the portals and eventually you'll get to the end (maybe 20 portals total). Lots of fighting in-between though.

How do you use night vision? It says "N" in the manual and in the settings, but pressing N does nothing.

Playing this game on Vista 32-Bit hasn't been a very pleasant experience so far. At first there weren't many problems, but I've occassionally had crashing to desktop when saving and a few other random problems. The game seems interesting, but the actual shooting doesn't seem very good... seems like it is tacked on rather than the main focus of the game.

My performance is pretty good @ 1680x1050 with maximum settings (Opteron 144 @ 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 8800GTS 640MB). Visual wise at some times the game is pretty mediocre and at other times it is really impressive. Is STALKER a pretty CPU-intenseive game, and does it use-dual core? I've seen the recommendations on the box which recommend a dual-core CPU and wonder how true this is.

You need the right armor for night vision to work. NVGs are built into the suits themselves.

SHOOT THEM! 😀

I'm not joking either. 🙂
