In Russia - You don't play STALKER - STALKER plays YOU!!

Awesome they are working on another stalker-ish game. :)

I'm playing SOC on Veteran and am at the part where you have to turn off the Brain Scorcher. I'm getting really frustrated with all the back tracking involved. I had to go all the way back to the beginning area to meet the guide, then back to Sterlok's stash to meet the doctor. Now I have to walk back to the warehouses and every time I progress I have a "defend the camp/barrier" which means I have to go back again to get a reward! I'm doing all of this with 58kg of stuff so walking is really slow. I don't see how they thought 50kg was enough for all the stuff you need. I think the game is great but it needs many improvements and bug fixes.

You aren't carrying vodka or food are you?

A lot of things are just wastes of weight capacity.

I've got the orange biohazard suit and the modified Sterlok suit, plenty of food and no vodka, three assault guns, a high end pistol, multiple types of ammo, and tons of medkits and medical aids. I hate having to give up stuff just to be able to move :(.

Don't carry an extra suit with you. Leave it in a box where you can grab it later if you need it. Also, only carry at most 2 large weapons. If you can, make one a weapon that is good at both sniping and good in close range, then you can get by with one and a lot of ammo for it. Vodka takes up a lot of room, so there is no reason to carry it when you can carry radiation syringes. Also, you only want to carry a little bit of food with you, since you barely need to eat in a mission. Just leave all your other stuff in a chest (I left my stuff in the chest in the bar, since it is the center of the game and you go back there all the time.)

Another help is to get two electrical anomolies, so that you can perma-run, and get from one part of the map to the other much faster.

Are those in the underground tunnel in Agroprom? There is an electrical tunnel with the these spherical things on the ground.

for decent movement, you need some of these.

drop the pistol, the orange suit, and only carry 2 rifles - 1 russian, 1 western. shotgun too, if you like. why would you carry around more than a couple cans of tourist delight? or are you a diet sausage kind of guy?

you should only carry what you need for mission. SOC has you go to the bar about 1000 times anyway.

You're probably a pack-rat, and you probably don't have any good endurance artifacts equipped.

I only carried 3 medkits and 5 anti-rads, and I only used them in extreme emergencies because my artifacts took care of most problems automatically. IIRC I had an anti-radiation artifact, an anti-bleeding one, a regeneration one, and two endurance ones, and I could sprint indefinitely with about 40-45 kg of gear.

Also don?t waste your time with generic side-quests like ?find the tail of the dog? or the ?defend the position? ones. You should have plenty of money by simply searching the countryside for artifacts and selling them to NPCs. I finished the game with about 200k cash and several suits of the game?s finest armor.

I think I am going to have to cheat to beat SOC. I was railroaded into going to the reactor and now cant go back and finish things up. I'm inside now and die in 2 seconds from radiation. Frustration...

Man, I loved playing through SoC, but I have yet to play all the way through and finish CS. I think I was turned off by the fact that the second and third areas were exaclty the same as in SoC.

Yes, I really don't like giving stuff away. I have around 55,000 RU, so I have money. I use the sparkler and the meat chunk as my artifacts. I will get some more endurance artifacts though.

Why didn't you like CS? How much different from SoC can it be? As I just said, I'm debating whether or not I should fire up CS and finally play through it all or not.

So I just got a sniper rifle and it takes 2-3 hits to take someone down! My modified ak does a better job than that!

SoC was so good it felt like my very first fps experience. CS was eh. I wanted more underground areas and more exploration although I didn't finish it. I made it to the red forest.

This. I don't know how, when SOC was the best FPS I've ever played, period - I can't get back into CS. I do find CS rather hard.

I died 1000 times in the first hour of gaming. It wasn't any fun. I remember SoC took me about 5-6 hours of playtime to get comfortable, but I just suppose I'm at a different point in my life where I don't feel like giving an FPS 6 hours of time just to get used to it.

I beat SOC and did all 3 endings on veteran! It will be a while before I play CS, I need a break from STALKER.

You can get them there, although they are random generations. The place where they show up more frequently is under the railroad in the first area (the part where you have to time your way through, so you don't get shocked to death.) This spot usually has two of the artifacts. (I have gotten one on each playthrough here, and I have played the game through 4 times now.) If I recall correctly, one of them usually spawns in the cardboard box.

I died so many times in the fist hour or so that I was getting really frustrated. The deal breaker for me was the machine gun nest. it was impossible to get through that section. Guns blazing? They shoot you. Stealth? They shoot you. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME.

There is a trick to get out of that exit but I forget. The solution though is to bypass it altogether and take the north exit out of the swamps, but once out you'll have to get on the stalkers good side to pass the bridge or attempt to sneak through (which you can do by the bridge).

Once past that it's smooth sailing, though you'll want to limit your involvement in the faction warfare as it chews up a lot of time for very little effect beyond the first missions you get when entering a area.

I enjoyed Clear Sky and SoC a lot more after I modded them to greatly increase carry weight. I know it's technically "cheating," but all it really did was save me a whole lot of boring, tedious trips back and forth.

I start playing CS couple weeks ago and I hooked, just use the bolt for the anomalies, now after Cordon I'm hunting for artifacts witha Seva suit. I love hunting for them, I join the Duty faction because they have cool weapons but I want to go back to Loner, Anyone knows how to go back to Loner Faction?

I loved the first game despite its flaws, but Clear Sky killed the franchise for me. GSC really needs a lesson in pacing, balance, localization and interface design. Plus Clear Sky ran like balls compared to to SoC.
