S/PDIF to AES/EBU adapter - what should I use?

I'm looking into buying a Behringer DCX2496 DSP crossover, and want to use the digital input. What's the best (inexpensive) way to do turn the unbalanced "consumer-type" output to the balanced "pro-type" input? Apparently, there is a difference beyond the use of balanced cable - will the two be compatible?

Give this a read.

The 2496 also has coax/toslink inputs.

Does it?

On the subject of transformers, I found a rather nice 75-ohm BNC to 110-ohm XLR connector. According to the link you gave me, 75-ohm BNC AES/EBU and coaxial S/PDIF are "electrically very similar". Presumably, all I need is a cable with a BNC connector on one end and an XLR connector on the other.

Alternately, is there a cheap soundcard that has AES/EBU output?

I was thinking of the procurve which is a DSP. That is an analogue crossover so you need to supply it with balanced inputs.
