Don't know what it means but they yanked the Windows v3.0 GUI and replaced it with the Windows v2.04 GUI on their FTP servers and download page.

I read somewhere that v3.0 was having some hardware compatibility problems. I don't know if this is true or not.😕

Wow... just checked it out. They're discussing over on alt.sci.seti. Not a word from any of the "higher ups". Appears they've yanked just the Windows 3.0 GUI executable - including those copies that were on their ftp mirrors.

Some were thinking it was an incomplete restore of a backup, but interestingly, it's only the Windows GUI 3.0. None of the other 3.0s were affected.

Well the damn thing is buggy as hell, On my k6-III it always leaves blank buttons in the task tray when the screen saver disengages.

Hmm...weird. I'm glad I haven't installed the 3.0 GUI on my P133 yet. 🙂 I'm still running the 2.04 GUI.

Robor, I've been running the 3.0 CLI for a few weeks now on Win98SE, and it seems perfectly fine. 🙂

The problem is acknowledged on the seti web site:

(NOTE: There was a small problem with the Windows 3.0 release. We've temporarily gone back to 2.04, and will release a Windows 3.01 soon.) Download Version 2.04 of SETI@home for Windows (95/98/NT).

I am using 2.04.. GUI.. for Windows.. What should I be using?

(EDIT: opps.. I missed reading a post.. LOL)

i had that same problem about 3 leaving little seti icons in the tray... maybe thats it?
