Hey OrangeKid,

Thanks a bunch for setting up a team proxy. I have set up my own personal setQ on one of my machines with a static IP and am using it. I really like how I can check the status of the server remotely.

I am using the newest beta of the server.

If i set my setiq to point to the teams setiq, will it still be able to connect to the berkeley servers in case OK's is down or unavailabe.

I only ask because earlier I had trouble connecting all the time. I would check on the clients and they would be idle.

Thanks again.

I was able to connect perfectly with my 3.03 CLI/Seti Driver combo on Fardringle's account.

The hostnames feature is great! Now I can see what my individual stats would be if I wasn't doing the CPU output trade. :D Like the Dnet projects going to SOME of the baby bovines, you can get complete hostname resolution, perhaps with enough of the hostname blanked out for security.

Can you edit the hostname display to mask part of the IP/hostname?

At this point all the html that SetiQ shows is self generated from the .exe, so no edits are available (except a hack.) Maybe we can get Ken to look into this though:)

New to the team, so how do I set up the client to use the team proxy? I use the proxy settings to get through the firewall, so what do I need to do to get through the firewall to the team proxy?

Thanks!
:)

Thx yet again OK for having this excellent thing in place for us!!! I noticed I couldn't connect for a while there, but it was working again 30mins or so ago :) Filled my SetiDriver right back and I've still got quite a few WU's in your Q too

I asked earlier in this thread, but maybe it got overlooked. :Q

How do I configure the SETI CLI client to get past our firewall and use the TA SETIQueue, or should I run a SETIQueue and have it go through the firewall?

I only have 2 P3 733s, 256M Ram running SETI

Unfortunately, there is no way to specify both a firewall and a proxy... If you set the proxy setting, it assumes that is a firewall. It is only because SETI Queue responds as if it were a proxy forwarding to the real seti servers that the client can connect to it.

There is also no way to make SETI Queue go through a firewall to Orangekid's proxy. I've sent Ken R. e-mails about it before, but I haven't gotten any response...

what you guys need is a kind old sole to put another TA Q server online and have it set to port 80

Any volunteers for the port80 proxy ?? I would, but I really dont have bandwidth right now..

If there was a Linux queue proggy I could host it, but not windows :(

I'd love to offer my services as a second team Queue. Unfortunately, my pathetic 26.4K dial-up connection would probably not be much help..

Anybody know somebody high up in the Qwest pecking order who I can blackmail to get them to flip the switch on the local access point to allow DSL? ;) (Yep, it's set up and ready to go, but the telco refuses to enable it...) :|

Ok, I've found some interesting stuff when looking at the stats page for the queues on Orange Kid's server here.

Why does everyone had such huge queues? I'm doing maybe 2.5 WU/day max, and I'd guess it's well below that. Yet I have a 48 WU cache. It doesn't need to be that big. :)

Orange Kid, I noticed that JHutch's cache is running real low. You can take atleast 15 WU's out of my queue and put them into his, if you want. I won't be needing them anytime soon. Just don't take the higher angle-range ones. ;)

Heres what I have done:)

I have take all the unassigned WU's and added them to everyones caches (48WU's). As most of us were at a similar # of WU's to start with we are all at a similar # now, only higher. Once your cache is depleated you have basically done all the WU's that are available at this Queue.

You ask -- are we all doing the same WU's?-------yes some will be duplicates of ones that other people are doing(not all), but if I've done it right;)none will be a duplicate unto your own.
You ask-- is this alright to do?---S@H sends each WU out two to three times themselves--so I am just saving them the effort and doing this for them while they are down:(

Once they are back on line I will remove any of the artifically place WU's from everyones caches and return things to normal.

Just trying to spread the work around and keep eveyone crunching during bad times.

Thanks, OK! I'm sure glad you've got this set up, or I'd be forced to do RC5 for the next few days! EW!! (Just kidding! ;))
