Just a quick question from a new-comer (to DC). I see where the SETI@Home is going to be stopped soon, but I haven?t seen an explanation. Are they completing the calculations or are they giving up for another program or to do something else? I am enjoying participating, but was a little dismayed that the program is slated for termination.
Short story: Right after I set up S@H and my CPU went to 100% I got an overheat alarm?????.turns out my innards were so dusty that the heat sink couldn?t handle 100% heat????turns out the case fans were loaded also??..anyway, I spent a little money on a air gun for my compressor and used it to blow out the dust (a hint from my computer tech son) and temp.s dropped 10 deg C., so something good has come of this already. : )
I just joined the team on Jan 4th and after a couple of days of identity crisis, I have settled in with two computers crunching numbers. They are twins: Athlon XP 2000+ 1.6GHz Palomino on MSI K7T266A Pro2 RU Motherboard with 512MB DDR Ram.
I probably won?t post much but will try to check in every now and then.
