Before anyone panicks we're only talking about 3 rigs here ,2 ancient,1 old 😛

I'm losing my mini work fleet tomorrow 🙁 ,policy changes mean I have to pull SETI 🙁 ,& just typical it would be the same time their upgrading their ancient machines too! :roll:

It's only a small fleet ,2 PIII 800's & a P4 2.4GHz,they run nearly 24/7 though so over the past 2-3yrs they've added quite a few WUs to my account 🙂
[edit] Just checked my Main SETIQ & it records over 6000 WU's from my work rigs,wow! :Q
Their combined output is about 13WUs/day....... lol my main rig nearly matches that by itself!😉

I guess that gives me another reason to want to leave this job 😛
 
Yeah, you get to care for those old crunchers. They do not produce so much, but they still count a lot. 🙁

I too can feel your pain.

I had to give up a rather large number of computers about 8-9 months ago ... as I recall it was about 70-80 computers ... so I went out and recruited more ... I'm still not crunching at that level yet but I am working on it ...

You should do the same ...

Keeping a work fleet is hard but you'll assimilate some more somewhere. (Afterall isn't that what your nick is all about 😉 )
 
Ouch, I know that hurts. Its like going back to dial up from cable.

We build and assimilate and gain in the stats and then wham, we lose one or a hundred and we miss them days🙁

If I can do anything let me know. I'll throw a machine or two your way if you want 🙂


Before you agree, we are talking about 2 ancient,1 very old machines.
I have 1 XP 1700+ a 1400+ and a 1200 I'll set up on your account if needed.

Well theirs been a stay of execution ,it seems its taking the IT guys a lot longer to switch over to the new system & replace PCs ,so the fleet runs for one more day 😛 ,though I flushed the Q midday just in case they were early.
My boss tells me that the workshop will be last in line to be switched over ,so bearing in mind that there's only 2 IT guys & they've only done 2 PCs (out of several dozen or more) I think they may still be running Monday! (though the switch over is supposed to of been done by Monday morning! ,bet it isn't!)

I've already long since recruited just about everyone I can ,though their maybe a new recruit coming ,I'm building a PC for a friend of mine & its going to have an Opteron 146 (2GHz) ,hopefully it'll over clock to around 2.5-2.8GHz area😎 ,that would bang out WUs!😉 ....if he's up for it.

I spoke to one of the IT guys (who incidentally did SETI himself once) ,he said they'll definitely be gone Monday.
Atm their still running (unless the IT guys are working today?) so if I'm lucky I'll be able to grab a handful of results Monday morning ,& then that's definitely the end 🙁

So my last real flush was yesterday ,& that was low because the P4 screwed up & for some odd reason was taking nearly 2 days to do some WUs! 😕,bloomin typical it'd be on the last week!:roll:

Btw I would of lost this fleet once S@H classic is killed off anyway because I couldn't use the net connection ,but it would of been nice to have them to the end though.

Btw I went into work today to look at a car & noticed that 2 of the rigs are still crunching 😉
Hopefully I can pull the results from the Q rig before it goes.

P.s. You thinkt that's old/ancient ? In this house there is currently an Athlon 1600, an AMD K6-2+ 500 and a PII 233 ! If it does 32bit, it aint ancient ! Ahh my old 286, those were the days...................

Out of curiosity, did they give any rational for the policy change?
