S@H Classic: Why all the long faces... it aint dead yet!!!

lol ,me too ,I even grabbed a WU by mistake! I found if I turned off auto transmit in SETIQ SETIDriver doesn't stall 😉

Maybe we could get BRS to 10k after all? 😛

Hmm, my command line client seems to be getting blocked now:

This version of SETI@home is obsolete. Please download
a new version from http://setiathome.berkeley.edu.

Psst!! Those who are still getting through, what version of S@H are you using? Maybe the server scripts are forgetting to reject specific versions. 😉

If so, I hope everyone keeps trying till we're sure it's really dead.

SetiQ gurus:

What's the secret to getting WU's downloaded to a new client?
I have one trying to connect for the first time & the Q says

Log entries for Q0004: log_2005-12-15.txt
5:53pm: Out of work units. Seti@home client 38.238.xxx.xx.cfl.res.rr.com waiting

The client says its waiting.

Windows CLI v3.03 here.

You're up to 8615 now 🙂

I'm connecting to your Q too Coolkid. If you're having problems sending in results i can just send them directly to Berkeley if you want. Assuming any of us can send anything in 😛

BTW, results are still being accepted as of this post. Wonder if they just shut down the ability to download new work 😕. I haven't tried.

Well,
There are WUs in my SETIHIDE client at home since last night. Check your SETIQ logs. Seems the results are being dropped. Haven't been able to check to see if BSR is still getting credit for them or not.

3:53am: s@h_wrk Result dropped 15oc03aa.5003.6272.997154.98
3:53am: Q000A Seti returned: Obsolete version
3:53am: Q000A Seti@home message: 'You are running a client from the original SETI@home ......

Yeah, my queue is filling up with error messages from Berkeley, but the units keep going through and stats keep going up 😀

I dont have heaps of WU there at the moment, but I have another couple thousand on DVD at home if it comes to that 😉

Yes, there are errors in SetiQueue but the WU's are being counted still so I am still crunching & sending them in! 😉

If you turn off Auto Trans then how do you get the WU's submitted?

Manual transmit when any clients aren't connecting

Though I've since found out that the clients are still stalling

My clients can't connect to the Q now their out of WUs,the Q still has a sub Q for BRS

Any ideas?

try searching you seti driver directory for files with 'loop' in the name - delete the files in those directories - not the directories - then hit transmit

Assimilator1, a possibility is that you don't have a 'user_info.sah' file for BRS on the comps that are trying to connect to the Q.
It was always my understanding(could be wrong though) that you needed to get all the correct '.sah' files from Berkeley before you could start getting WUs from a Q.

Still uploading WUs 🙂
8717 for BRS 😎

Yea that's what I did ,didn't work ,SD couldn't get more WUs.😕

Spacehead
Yea I had the user info files ,I'm guessing that its SD doing its job properly ,I just haven't found out what's changed to cause that.
Atm I'm running the naked client 🙂Q 😉) ,its crunching a left over WU

Ah!,I wonder if it's this in the version.sah?

major_version=3
minor_version=3
obsolete_version

Maybe that's shutting off the client?
I've just changed the one with my naked client to read only ,see what happens! 😉

Yep, i bet that's it. Probably trying to download WUs after the 15th had that & it's stopping the client. Maybe try getting WUs from Coolkid's Q???

Oops! Forgot you connect to your own Q.
It may depend on how old the WUs in your Q are. Recently downloaded WUs will contain the "obsolete_version" thing in the 'version.sah' file. At least the WUs i downloaded from Coolkid earlier did not contain the "obsolete_version" tag.

This is all speculation on my part, so take from it what you will.

Thanks Wiz 🙂

Interesting point ,I just looked in 1 of the WUs in the Q & this is at the beginning

Its got the message but no 'obsolete version' ,it looks like the version.sah is created by the client?.In the Q there is only the WU & its corresponding WU.ini file.
