Exactly, why should the SCOTUS even agree to hear the case? It's already been decided before. Under the exact circumstances. The anti-abortionist's only hope is that the recently appointed SCOTUS judges somehow agree to rehash past case law. And yet the GOP is still politically vulnerable as it will be seen as a GOP-led effort to overturn Roe and thus there is the dreaded backlash possibility.

Dude, you are forgetting that blackangst1 from the anandtech forums has already read the legislation and approved it!

Actually what he is forgetting is that because I did take the time to actually research it, I am already aware of HOW it got passed legally. Obviously something neither of you have done. *shrug*

Well, no doubt this will end up in the Supreme Court very soon; however, at least me looking at senate and house transcripts of this legislation has convinced me it will eventually stand. And there are currently 13 other states with similar legislation waiting to be submitted. Good luck to them I hope it becomes reality.

Oh man, blackangst on anandtech forums gives it his approval after looking at the legislation himself!? Man, this is headed STRAIGHT for the Supreme Court! Wait till they hear who approved it!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you obviously don't know much about the Supreme Court. This won't go anywhere near it. First of all, this legislation is so BLATANTLY bogus, it will be immediately struck down. Why? Well, a Federal law supercedes it(making it illegal), it gives only 5 years in prison for the "killers", etc. Next, the Supreme Court needs to agree to hear it, which, will not happen. Next!

The sad thing is, this is Republicans pandering to their voters... and fools like you ACTUALLY BELIEVE that they are trying to do something for your "cause"! The joke is on you! You got suckered! Since when do killers get 5 years in prison?

First of all, who are you that decides what the SC hears or not? Ah, thats right. Youre shadow9d9 from anandtech!

/sarcasm off

Second. What makes you think Im a Republican? And what the heck is "the cause"?

Well, you now know why you're labeled Republican and troll.

As for the OP, I personally think the SCOTUS will strike it down (or not even hear it), at least this time. The issue isn't built up enough yet and I agree that the GOP has more to lose by it passing and striking down Roe than just making the attempt, at least at this point.

But I wish it would go one way or another soon. I'm tired of hearing about this bullsh!t and would like the country to fix it's rocky foundations economically instead of this crap.

So, 'personal choice' = inconvenience? WTF? You *do* suck at reading comprehension.

About.com has better formatted results from AGI:

Abortion Statistics - Decisions to Have an Abortion (U.S.)

* 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing.
* 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby.
* 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child.
* 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy.)
* 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career.
* 7.9% of women want no (more) children.
* 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health.
* 2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health.
Yes. Personal choice - inconvenience. Now shoo.

edit: The source from about.com is from some women's group. How about finding credible sources? Also those stats are from 1996. How about finding some up to date ones...like what I posted?
Uh, try reading those stats again. Those are not just "inconvenience".

And, the about.com site states most of their stats are from AGI.

so...."shoo"

No wonder people think you're a Republican troll. You act just like one of your heroes

And a few quotes of yours:

Well, I guess I dont care what people think about me *shrug* I'm pretty liberal on most issues; however, I do not support, in any way, marriage of gays, including civil unions. I dont support adoption by gay couples. I dont like the fact my company gives spousal benifits to gay couples. I dont like the lifestyle.

I just dont think gay couples should have the same rights as married couples in regards to marriage. I have several very close friends who are in gay relationships, and they know well my view, and it doesnt matter to them. We are still very good and close friends.

Well, ultimately we have to draw a line somewhere. We obviously cant cant have a society where anything goes. What our laws attempt to do is give everyone their own personal freedoms without trampling their individual rights as afforded by our constitution. By banning gay marriage, no one's rights under the constitution are being trampled. If you believe otherwise, please post your proof. Marriage is a social issue, not a constitutional one.

And while were at it, why not make beasiality legal? I mean really! Animals arent given rights under the constitution, are they?

Actually it's a relevant retort. If it is not relevant, I take it you support marriage to more than one spouse? Or to a relative? Or to a consenting minor? How could you NOT support those cases with your stance?

As far as Republican's supporting gov't intrusion...it started when GWB took office. I'm a Republican, but if you take a look at what he has legislated (it's all public record) he is definately NOT for smaller gov't, and he IS for intruding on our personal lives. Check the record yourself.

Ayup...a Republican troll flaunting his bigotry.

majority being the key word. If you look at AGI's actual data, it differs. Also, the data you posted is 10 years old, if you even care. Im done proving you wrong. I posted correct stats, you posted skewed stats from 10 years ago. Whatever. I have my opinion, you have yours. If you want to resort to namecalling because my opinion differs from yours, fine. So be it. Be a child, I really dont care. I was simply stating I agree with the decision. Go on and play now. And dont forget to call me a few more names because it makes you look better!

Wow. That's just plain old bad comprehension skills.

Actually, scare tactics work very well. Look at the invasion of your privacy the government has managed in the last 5 years because of the 'terrist' boogeyman.

The difference is women will still get abortions; if you make it hard enough to get a safe one, some will end up dying on the end of a coathanger. It's that simple.

I, for one, applaud SD for doing this. And apperantly you all suck at reading comprehension-there is a provision for rape/incest/woman's health.

It's about time women are forced to take reasponsibility for their actions. Yes, I said it. Almost every statistic from almost any reputable source shows less than 2% of all abortions nationally are due to reasons of incest or rape. 98% are because a baby would be an "inconvenience" to the mother. Too bad, sister. You spread your legs, you took the risk. Most birth control is 98% effective; therefore, if women would take responsibility for their own sexual behaviour, 98% of abortions would be eliminated. As a man, it is MY responsibility to use protection as well; however, *if* the woman becomes preggo, I have lost my rights. If I dont want to support a baby, tough luck. I get hammered with child support. If I want the baby and she doesnt, tough luck. Her body, her baby to kill.

/cheer for SD! I hope other states follow suit SOON.

Go away troll. Taken from the New York Times.

The law would make it a crime for doctors to perform an abortion unless it was necessary to save the woman's life, with no exception for cases of rape or incest. Planned Parenthood, which operates the state's only abortion clinic, has pledged to challenge the law in court.

Im a troll because I have an opinion? Bite me liberal scum.

Nah, you are a troll because you couldn't stay away after your permanent vacation.
