Question Ryzen 5 4600G

Today I needed to quickly build a new computer to replace a broken workstation at work. I had some parts from a build that never happened a couple of years ago. AMD Ryzen 5 4600G, ASRock X570 PHANTOM GAMING 4, 16 GB Ram, 1 TB M.2. Recycled data drives and case from broken computer.

I didn’t have a graphics card, but figured the 4600G had built in GPU and the X570 says it supports graphics output.

I couldn’t get anything out of it.

I had an old GX870 card laying around. It worked with the generic graphics driver, but window updates the driver, then it won’t work.

Is there something I am missing to enable the onboard graphics?

If the iGPU is enabled and working you should be able to see it in the device manager under display adapters. Keep internet disconnected until done troubleshooting so windows doesn't auto install drivers for the old card. You may have to use uninstall device and checkbox remove drivers for the old card while in the device manager. If you don't see the Radeon or Vega listed and clearing the CMOS does not do the trick, check the bios version installed for the board. Support goes back to version 3.00 from mid 2020 when the APU released.

I always install the latest chipset drivers from AMD as soon as windows is done installing. I also recommend using the AMD auto installer, it can solve some glitchy driver related issues by doing it that way.

Clear/reset CMOS according to user manual instructions. Disconnect drives for now (don't need them to POST). Check memory module (DIMM) population rules in user manual (page 22). If already correct, try with one DIMM (in appropriate slot). If no change, try the other.
