Looking to upgrade my 5+ year old system in my signature to:

AMD Ryzen 3600X (Microcenter $80 deal)
Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wifi ($95 after combo discount)
Crucial Ballistix 2 x 8GB 3200 CL16 ($68)
Total: 325

What I'll be re-using if possible:
Samsung 840 SSD from 2013
XFX RX 580 8GB
Seasonic Focus Gold 750W
Noctua D14 (How do i get an AM4 bracket?)
Cooler Master HAF932

I play CSGO @ max settings on a 32in Freesync Monitor 75hz @ 1440p. Everything is refund-able. Do you guys think this would be a good upgrade for the next 5-8 years?

Yeah, get the 3600(X) CPU, (there's a list of the ones on sale in the Hot Deals forum thread!), the Zen2 architecture IS "THAT" much better for gaming than Zen1/Zen+. You can thank me later. Yes, it's a little more expensive, but IMHO, it's worth it.

In fact, when not gaming, download Nicehash (create an account), and you can "mine" on the Zen2 CPUs, you can make $0.30-0.35 USD / day on just a Ryzen R5 3600 CPU! (You get paid in Bitcoin, which may prove useful soon.)

If nothing else, during gaming "|down time", your CPU could pay for itself in 1-2 years.
Hm… I wonder if the microcenter deal is still going on. I believe they have/had the 3600x for $160. Is it worth $80 more than what I paid for the 2600x?
I def don't mind pulling the CPU and reinstalling, since I have to do it again when I get the new backet from Noctua with the AM4 mount.

Supposedly, W8 and W10 are more adaptable than 7, so it is worth a dare to do an unaltered swap as proof of concept.
Proof of concept with about 12 hours of uptime, I didn't do a fresh install. removed all old mb software and drivers, changed hardware, installed new drivers and software. been good since. but then again its only been about 2 days of normal usage.

Based on some recommendations from the CPU subforum - for the money, its a better deal to go for the AMD 3600X for $160 vs what I currently have 2600x for $80. Think i'm gunna do that, but what do u guys think?

When 4k monitors get cheap, I may upgrade to play CSGO @ 4k @ max settings.

just to update: this system w/ 3600x + RX580 on 1440p at max settings gets me 200+ fps even with smokes and molotovs in CSGO 😀

Having some trouble booting from a new NVME drive that I used Macrium Reflect to clone my current OS over though.
