Well, I was going to pick it up used, but might just waiting until it's on a Steam sale next summer. The XB1 controller now has official PC support so it should play just the same.

Considering the QTE's trigger all the time and it doesn't much matter if you hit the right buttons or not to finish it, plus there only seems to be about 5 character models......meh. I may pick it up for $5 on a sale, but otherwise I couldn't care that much.

I haven't played it, but from what I hear, it looks good (for a console game, I suppose I should note) and the gameplay is what you expect from this type of game (complaining it is repetitive is like crying Dynasty Warriors is repetitive... Of course it is, it is designed that way).

I don't think it got stellar reviews, but it is probably worth a look if you enjoy hack and slash games.

Got pretty mediocre reviews, but it's still the sort of game that I'm interested in. Will check it out for $20 or less.

This is the second big "Xbox One exclusive" that's now been announced for PC (the other being Dead Rising 3). I hope this becomes a trend. Would love to see Sunset Overdrive come to PC sometime in the future.

Has been a trend for years. MS does a lot of timed exclusives. It's why there isn't much point in owning an Xbox if you already have a capable gaming PC.

Be nice if Forza came to PC though. That's one of their few absolute console exclusives.

And this is why I don't have an xbox one. The overlap with the PC is huge.

I'm probably going to get this, nothing like a good mindless hack and slash to keep me entertained. Heck, this game will most likely look better than Crysis 3, as it uses a newer version of the CryEngine.

what exactly does "4k support" mean?

does that mean it's going to ship with 4k textures making the game download unneccesarily huge for 99% of gamers?

note to developers - make 4k textures an seperate download, thanks.

Some games are only console exclusive, meaning Sony won't get it. Others are timed and MS or whoever will pay the publisher so their competition doesn't get it. MS doesn't care much if PC gets it cause XB1 doesn't try to compete with PC. Forza though will probably never go to PC, just like Halo doesn't. These are the games that push people to buy the console. MS owns the studios too.

As for the game looking better than Crysis 3, don't get your hopes up. You pretty much fight the same 3 guys the whole game. Besides, I played it on XB1 and while it looked good for a console game, the game itself was pretty much garbage. There are execution sequences that aren't bad, someone mentioned QTE earlier it really isn't. There's no button prompt that appears and if you fail you start over. The executions are optional and if you do it, it only serves to give you a bonus to your score. They don't stop the flow of action.

4K textures will probably require us to have 16-20GB of VRAM which none of us have on our hardware.

Probably what they mean is the GUI will be able to adapt to 4K resolution so all of the text and menus will scale properly.

Damn guess game informer is filtered out.. anyway funny article there with the following title: Ryse: Son Of Rome Is As Fun As Dialing Phone Numbers

That is basically how I saw it.. yawn-factory at it's finest. You can seriously beat that game 1 handed and prolly don't even have to look at the screen 1/2 the time

The era of third party console exclusives is pretty much dead. Publishers want to maximize profits so they'll release it on as many platforms as possible. That's now easier than ever since PC, Xbox, and PlayStation all share common hardware, and two share a common OS.

The Xbox One will struggle this generation if the PS4 maintains it's momentum, since MS has so few first party exclusives. Anyway, the more games PC gets, the better.

I am not as heavy into PC gaming as I was a couple years ago. I will buy some games on PC but I do buy some games on ps4 or xb1 for reasons unrelated to graphics.

I want to play a QTE game in my PC (or anywhere) as much as I want another mother in law.

wtf! getting one day one! The graphics are the best I've seen on any platform! Made me think twice if it was even possible!!! I can only imagine this to be superior to the XBone version!

QTEs get a ton of hate, but for no good reason, IMO. As games (and mostly in-engine rendering) gets more advance and cinematic, there has been no real advancement in the control schemes to match these new, only input every so often, "finishers". Developers are left with either just playing a non interactive cinematic scene and taking all control away from the gamers, or adding a timing based button press to perform an action there is no way to control.

A lot of games employ what is essentially a QTE type of control scheme (pressing specific buttons in a specific timing scheme to achieve what you want), but they simply hide the pop up on the screen and expect the player to know what to do.

Not saying it's a GOTY but having read reviews at launch, they differ so much, one would think totally different games are reviewed. I'm in, might as well get a button masher since I bought Revengeance too

Many of the reviews were overly harsh.

It's fairly simple and it's completely linear, but it looks and sounds fantastic and is good fun.

It's not worth full price though.

Most complaints are for gameplay style.

Crytek has been envisioning a game style where cinema meets the game.

This was an attempt at that. They're even developing a version of their engine/editor called CineBox because the engine is so good at cinematics.

If you approach the game to be enjoyed the way they intended, it's great! And remarkably beautiful.

I'm reading this more as a 'Crytek is broke and needs as much as cash as they can get' type of thing. I doubt they'll move a lot of Ryse PC copies at launch though, as others have said, the game was mediocre at best. I'm thinking many PC players will simply wait until its in the digital bargain bin.

I don't even know how much they are going to get anyway. I would find it hard to believe MS doesn't have some ownership of the rights.

But, the best news out of this is that Deep Silver is going to be publishing the retail version of this game. And that gives hope they might be acquiring CryEngine and that might be used in a Saints Row sequel! SR4 was a great blend of silliness and good gameplay that the genre has lacked for awhile.
